Tuesday, February 4, 2020 - Pulga; Temperatures Rise; Mail Run; Lupper with Friends; Evening Gathering of Friends

When I woke this morning it was 5:30, the temperature outside was 66, and it was 71 inside - and it felt a little stuffy.

After our morning coffee, I readied myself for the day.  Pam and some of her friends are picking me up and we are going to Pulga - or the Flea Market.  Dean and I have been several times in the past.  They have several fruit and vegetable stands, food booths and an open eating area.  I almost bought a few things (the cauliflower and broccoli looked amazing) but decided against it since most of the parks have a vendor come through selling those same items.  (I should have bought them, as I found out later no one comes to Cottonwood).  😒

Marsha, Brenda and Me - Laurie took this picture as we left our park headed to Pulga.

I may not have purchased anything but I definitely managed to get a few thousand steps while we were there...a total of over 9,000 for the day.  We went up and down every single aisle.  There are all kinds of things on sale besides the fruits and vegetables, including plants, animals (dogs, parakeets, iguanas, etc.), clothes (both new and used), hats, boots, toys, movies, jewelry, trinkets, cell phone accessories, etc.  There are also flea-market booths where used items are sold - machinery, dishes, pots and pans, tools, shoes, etc.

It was getting quite warm by the time we left - they were correct about the temperatures rising today!

After Pam dropped me off at Bentley, Dean and I had a light lunch, before we headed to the Mission post office to pick up our mail.  We waited until today so all of the items I ordered from Amazon would be there and we would not have to make another trip.  So much for that thought.  Only two of the three arrived.  It's okay, we'll just go by tomorrow and pick the remaining one up.

We are going to lupper (lunch/supper) with our friends Dennis and Pam.  They picked us up at 3:30.  This was our first visit to Los Asados.  They serve both Mexican and seafood dishes.  Pam and I both love Mexican and the guys...not as much, but they do like seafood.  A win-win for us all.

We enjoyed our meals.  I ordered Chalupas and they were excellent, especially since each one came with a nice big dollop of guacamole.  I love guacamole so that was a bonus I was not expecting.  Dean chose the fried shrimp.  Of course, we had a good time visiting with Pam and Dennis.

The temperatures hit a high, reaching the mid 80's, which meant we didn't need to light the fire genie this evening.  Jay and Stella stopped by to visit with us all this evening and it was really nice to see them again.  There was a lot of chattering going on.

Left to Right:  Deb, Mike, Stella, Jay, Lin, Peg, and Me.  Dean took the picture.

Our group broke up about 7:45 and we headed back to our rigs to watch TV the rest of the evening.

Another great day.  We are sure thankful for the beautiful weather we had today, and more time with friends.
