I haven't done the best job of keeping up daily posts, but now that I am caught up, maybe I can stay with it. It sure is easier to write as you go, rather than trying to remember even a day or two ago.
With the first day of this new month, I told Dean we needed to go to the grocery store and Sam's to get a few things for this week. While it didn't take long at either place we were still gone for almost two hours. We literally drive from the RV Park across the highway in Oswego to the grocery store. We realized how spoiled we are. First stop was Walmart - 6-7 miles away, and then that far again to Sam's. Of course then we had to come back. Driving that far is not such a big deal, except for the constant stops every 1/2 mile to a mile waiting at traffic signs makes the difference. We do not even have a traffic signal in Oswego. The main intersection of US Highways 59 & 160 in Oswego is only a 4 way stop. Traffic backup occurs almost exclusively when the train comes through town, then you might see traffic backed up a block, maybe two (if there are a few semi's) on either side.
It didn't take long to get what we needed at both locations and we were back at Bentley by mid-morning. After putting the groceries away, Dean spent the rest of the morning on his computer. He pays the bills and I am thankful he took that job over several years ago. I only put the expenses into the budget spreadsheet. It does all of the computing for me, so it's a pretty easy task to keep up, as long as you don't let the receipts pile up. We had a simple lunch of meat & cheese, followed by our daily apple. I like to have a little peanut butter with mine. Dean said he was jealous and he decided to try it again with his apple. One bite, nope - he still doesn't like peanut butter. Lol! I've got to give him credit for at least trying it. Maybe one day he'll realize it's pretty good stuff.
After proofreading each of the blog posts I wrote yesterday I made a few changes before posting them.
Then I spent a couple of hours doing some research for the next couple of stops on our itinerary, I called two RV parks and made reservations - 3 days in the Kerrville, TX area and 5 in Marathon, TX. While in Kerrville, we will also visit Fredricksburg, Comfort, and some other neighboring communities. In Marathon we will visit Alpine (McDonald Observatory), Fort Stockton and possibly make a day trip to Big Bend. I still have a day between the two that I need to find a place to stay. I was hoping to reserve a week at Marathon but 5 days were all they had available. I've decided tomorrow I will call the park in Kerrville to see if we can add a day to our reservation. There's certainly enough to do in the area, and having an extra day may be needed for a day of rest in between the two. Lol!
Shortly before 5, we walked to Mike and Peg's to sit around the fire and visit for an hour or so before making dinner.

Taken shortly after Dean lit the fire in our Flame Genie. Everyone sure enjoys having the warmth from it. |
We enjoy visiting with these two couples. They have traveled extensively in their RV's and have told us about many locations they have visited that are part of our future travels. It's very helpful to us. Peg told us their dog Mollie was really upset we did not have a get together Friday evening. She said Mollie was ready to go outside at 5 and put up quite a fuss when it didn't happen.
We sure miss having Dave and Nancy and Corbin and Flora here. Dean and I hope to see you all in April at the Oklahoma rally.
We had a nice visit that went on longer than normal as we talked about various places they have been, which really helps us in future planning of places we still want to visit.
Sometime after 7 we headed back to Bentley. I made dinner of orange chicken and rice. It's a very simple recipe I found on Pinterest. We only get to enjoy it every 2 or 3 months since it doesn't really fit our diet on a regular basis due to the high sugar content. It's a treat when I make it.
We watched some TV and were both ready for bed by 9:30. I don't think either of us lasted more than 10-15 minutes and we were out for the night.
We are so thankful for our safe trip from home to the valley, the opportunity for travel to new places and to meet up with new and old friends.
