Saturday, February 8, 2020 - Busy Day - Groceries, Post Office, Don-Wes (Twice), Lunch at Tower Burgers, Dinner Prep for Tonight & Sunday, Another Good Evening Outside

It was a warmer than normal this morning with the temperatures staying around 70.  We left the windows cracked just a bit upstairs as we prefer it to be cool when we sleep.  It provides a nice breeze that is comfortable.

I was anxious to hear from Marc this morning but waited until 8:45 or so to text him.  I was hoping he was able to get a good night's sleep.  When he called me he said he didn't get much sleep.  Every day will be better but it's hard to concentrate on that when it just hurts.

Dean and I had several errands to run and the first was to get some groceries for this week.  We drove to the Walmart in Penitas, TX, closest to us and bought a few things.  After taking them back to Bentley, we left again.

The next stop was at the Post Office.  Fortunately, the lady I talked to on Thursday was working and I was able to ask her about the status of our package.  I told her the Supervisor had taken my name and number and said he would check yesterday and let me know what had happened but I never got a call.  She went to check with him.  When she returned she explained he was out on a route with one of the postmen and he will call me when he returns, but I never received that call.  I'll be back there on Monday.  I did explain to her we were leaving here early Wednesday morning and I needed to know what to do about it.

From there we headed to Don-Wes.  We need to return the magnetic bracelet to the booth there and my sister wants me to buy some additional items for her.  Since we are going back I check with a friend who was interested in the sunglasses I purchased and I am going to pick up a pair for her as well.  We took time to walk around and look at more of the booths, which we did not do last Wednesday.

They have two fruit and vegetable booths here.

They often have live music here.  This is a large sitting area with room for dancing.  Today, no dancing, at least not while we were there.
Here are a few of the shops on site:

Bicycle shop

One of many places that sell clothing

Golf shop

Metal Art

Windshield repairs

Several shots of the parking lot.  It was one of the busiest days I've seen here.

After making our purchases, we headed to Tower Burger, about 5 miles away for lunch.  The food was delicious.  Dean and I shared the Tower Burger which includes a fried egg, onion strings, tower sauce, cheddar cheese and tomato, lettuce, and pickle.

It was a delicious dinner.
On the way to Tower Burger, I realized I forgot to pick up another magnetic bracelet for my sister.  After lunch we headed back to get it.

I forgot to include this earlier in the post, so I'll add it here:
I bought this headband on Amazon.  After looking at how to use it online I decided I'd give it a try today.
The day started out pretty good, but by the end of the day, it loosened up.  It might have been from the strong winds we had today, but I was not overly impressed with it.  I'll give it another try on a calmer day to see if I change my mind.  I bought it because it is "headache free".  Normal headbands give me a headache, so it was worth the try.  As my hair gets longer it might work better.  Right now my "bangs" are still short in comparison to the rest of the length.  It was the shorter hair that caused the problem today.
After completing our final purchase at Don-Wes, we headed back to Cottonwood RV Park.  Yesterday I moved some hamburger to the refrigerator (from the freezer) to thaw, but last night it was still frozen.  When we returned today, I checked it and it had thawed, so I made three hamburger patties for dinner tonight, and used the rest of it to make meatloaf for tomorrow (Sunday).

We spent the rest of the afternoon (an hour or so) just resting, me on the computer and Dean watching TV.  Around five we headed next door to Lin and Deb's for another evening around the Fire Genie.  It was a little cooler this evening with the wind blowing so we enjoyed having the fire.  We were disappointed that clouds moved in causing us to miss the Super Moon that was to appear this evening.

We have three more days here in Mission, Texas before we head on west.  We are really enjoying these warmer days and hope they stay around.

  1. The head band looks interesting. A whole different shape. I hope you like it. The last picture is very nice!
