We enjoyed our stay at Johnson Creek RV Resort & Park. It was a quiet park, located in the midst of a pecan grove, with Johnson Creek running behind it. They offer Passport America for two nights, with any additional time at their regular rate. We had planned to stay here three nights; however, we had to add an additional night since we could only book five nights at our next stop in Marathon, TX, leaving us a day between the two stops. Fortunately, we were able to add a 4th day here at Johnson Creek. I'm glad it worked out the way it did as there was so much to see and do in the area.
We both did some preparation yesterday for our move today which allowed us to leave the campground at 8:45. We have another long drive today - 299 miles. While that may not seem like much in a car, to us it is a good 6-7 hour drive. Once we arrive it's usually another 30-60 minutes by the time we have checked in, parked, and set up. I didn't take too many pictures today. My left shoulder, mid to upper back and my neck started bothering me yesterday. I believe it was from our time spent at Trade Days. I find that walking slowly for long distances, slowly in order to look at things, seems to cause a flare up. Most likely it has to do with my poor posture. I have been wearing my magnetic necklace everyday since I purchased it at Don-Wes Flea Market while we were in Mission. I have had almost no pain after the first full day of wearing it, but it started to bother me late yesterday afternoon/early evening. I did all of the routine things: ice, ibuprofen and bio-freeze, and by evening it was feeling much better, but it flared back up this morning, so I followed the routine again all day and into the evening.

A little fog as we left the campground this morning. It burned off before we reached I-10, 6 miles away, |

A short time later I took this picture. When I first noticed these gray, low-lying clouds, they looked like a small mountain range in the distance. |

Lots of open road ahead of us with beautiful scenery along the way. |

You can barely see the cross on top of this mountain |
Fortunately, by the time we reached Fort Stockton, TX my neck and back were feeling much better. We arrived at Marathon RV Park & Motel in Marathon, TX (Where the Big Bend and Dark Skies Meet). It's basically a large gravel parking area alongside of a small motel. They offer star parties every evening if the skies are clear. We were hoping that would happen tonight, but the clouds started moving in before nightfall, squelching our chances of a night under the stars.
I warmed up leftover white chicken enchiladas for dinner, that I made yesterday. They tasted even better tonight. Afterwards, we settled in to watch the first night of American Idol. So far the young man from Nepal, who now lives in Wichita, KS, is my favorite. I managed to make it through the first half before I feel asleep on the couch. I'm not sure if the TV being turned off woke me up, or if it was Dean, but it was just in time to go to bed. Lol!! My back was not bothering me much at all when I woke up.
One thing I didn't realize about this park is how close it would be to the main highway coming into Marathon, and there is also a railway very nearby. I laid there wondering how I would ever be able to fall asleep; then I remembered my ear plugs. I had not needed them for quite some time. I quickly found them, and they were a lifesaver. I slept soundly until 4:30 the next morning.
