It was another cool morning but as soon as the sun started it's rise, the temperatures started climbing from 44 and finally hitting mid to upper 60's later in the day. When the sun is out - like it was yesterday - 60's feel very good! After our breakfast I went upstairs to change. That's when I noticed the sun shining in the window. I had to run downstairs and grab my phone to take this picture.

Beautiful, calm morning sunrise. That is a Texas flag, just on the other side of our concrete pad outside. |
Mike and Peg are leaving this morning, so a little before 8, we walked over to tell them goodbye and give them hugs. We will miss them and Mollie. For Dean and I, we probably will not see them again until next year since our paths will be taking us different directions this year.
Lin and Dean headed to the golf course around 9. I know they miss having Dave with them, as they golf together when they can. Dave, we miss you and Nancy being here with us, we are thinking of you. Dean and I look forward to seeing you in Oklahoma in April.
While Dean was gone, I cleaned Bentley, washed a load of laundry, and finished up a blog post for Wednesday. It was a productive morning for me. One thing about an RV it seems to collect the dust quickly - especially the way the wind blows here in South Texas. I noticed that we already have a thin layer of dust on Bentley - from afar he still looks clean, but up close you can see that light grayish film on him.
After Dean returned, we had a quick lunch, then I called our friend Diane that we met last year at Val's, to see if she and Steve were home. We've been wanting to get together with them. Unfortunately they were not there, but we are going to meet at their place tomorrow at noon, then have lunch somewhere. It will be good to catch up with them.
We still needed to return to the post office to see if they have found my Amazon package yet. We took a little longer ride on the way there just to see some different countryside. I was fortunate today, when we arrived the line was VERY short, however I was there a very LONG time...at least 30 minutes or more. They searched and searched for my package but they just cannot locate it. Finally, the supervisor/postmaster? came out to talk to me. He took my name and phone number and they are going to call me after they talk to the guy who signed off on the package when it arrived to see if he might know anything about it. I'm not sure what will happen if they don't find it. Of course of the three things I ordered it was the one I wanted the most; and if we weren't leaving here in a few days I wouldn't worry about it at all - somehow I know I'll get it. I'm just wondering how it will turn out if I don't get it before we leave and we are on the move.
We've tried hard to fight it, but that Texas Stop Sign caught up with us and we had to stop - at Dairy Queen, that is! We decided to get blizzards, and only have a very light dinner tonight, just crackers and cheese. Oh, those blizzards are really good!
I wanted to pick up a couple of items to make white chicken enchiladas and didn't want to stop at a big grocery store, so I asked Dean to stop at the Dollar General store just down the road from our park. Unfortunately, they didn't have everything I needed, so I'll wait to buy the items this weekend when I go to HEB or Walmart.
We've really hit our "Dining Out" budget hard, so I may be doing a lot of cooking when we leave here. Lol!
We rested a short while after returning home, then realized it was almost 5, time to gather with our friends outside to visit for a couple of hours before the sun starts setting. Dean got out the Fire Genie, and started the fire, which was needed this evening. It wasn't real cold, but with the sun starting to sit, and a slight breeze, it sure kept us warm. There was only Lin, Deb and us tonight - a small gathering, but we had a great time visiting about a number of topics and always learning something about traveling!

What a great day it has been, despite not finding my package - that's small in the big picture of life, so no worries! Mike and Peg we sure missed you and Mollie tonight. It was good to see you made it to your overnight stop for the evening.
What a nice post. I get behind in reading and then don't know how often you approve msgs so don't often comment.
ReplyDeleteNice to catch up with old and new friends. I love the Dairy Queen stop, that would be our friend, Rob's, request if they were with us. That and I-Hop. haha
I hope they find your package, like you, I would be positive "it will come" :) but my fingers would be crossed when I said it! :)
