Wow, did it rain last night. I was sleeping like a baby and then BOOM. I think the lightening struck somewhere near us, but after that it was just hard rain. I guess it lulled me back to sleep because before I knew it was several hours later and time to get up.
I had put a load of clothes in the washing machine before I went to bed so I got it started and straightened up a bit until the coffee was made.
I worked on the blog and Dean watched TV while we enjoyed our coffee.
After our shake, Dean left for the garage and was gone for a few hours. I did the dishes, changed the sheets, put new ones on, then went downstairs to straighten things up there - not that there was too much to do. I have a lightweight sweeper I use here in the kitchen area, and with all of our traffic in and out since we arrived, the floor needed a good sweep, especially around the door. It's battery charged and the battery went dead about half way through. Good timing!?! I love the sweeper and the charge does last quite awhile, typically a month or so.
I remembered my sister said she was going to the store this morning. I needed some green beans for my beef stew tonight. I told her to just leave it in her car and we would stop by later to get it, so she didn't have to make a trip out here.
After lunch, we decided to take a drive. It's just good to get outside for awhile. Dean told me the battery on my car was dead. He wanted to go back today and check it. It started but he still left a slow trickle charger on it until we can get it out of the garage. Right now it is so muddy, we are going to wait a few days hoping it will dry out. We need to get some gravel hauled in while we are here.
From there we drove east a mile to the Neosho River bridge. The water is pretty high but not out of its banks yet. Later in the day I received a notice on my phone that it will continue to rise over the next couple of days. We stopped at Cindy's to pick up the green beans. She was gone, but she had set them on a table under their carport. From there, we decided to drive to Altamont. My son and his wife are in the process of buying a house there, and we wanted to do a drive-by. The house is similar in size to theirs, however the new building is larger than his current workshop, and it will be great for his business. He stays very busy with projects from small items to cabinets.
After we returned, I realized I had not paid Todd yet, so I wrote a check and walked up to the office to drop it off. He was in the shop, and when I said Hello I think I startled him. We visited for a minute or so, before I walked back. It felt good to get outside and get some exercise. It was a beautiful day with temperatures in the low 70's. The weather is teasing us, as tomorrow it is supposed to drop into the low 30's with a high of 44. Spring in Kansas!
It was time to get out the Instapot to start my beef stew. It sure tasted good, so good that we each had two bowls. We missed watching American Idol last week, so we found it on Hulu and enjoyed listening to the various contestants. We did not realize we actually missed two nights. We started watching the second show, first week in Hollywood, but after 10-15 minutes we realized we were too tired when our eyes started drooping. We can always watch it later.
