Sunday, March 15, 2020 - Happy Birthday Sister Cindy; Travel to Dexter, NM; Visit to City of UFO's - Roswell, NM

We left Sunrise RV Park in Deming, NM at 9:47am working our way to Dexter, NM for an overnight stop.  We were surprised at the change in the countryside as we made our way north.

(Remember to click on any picture to enlarge it.)  As we passed through Las Cruces, NM our route changed to a northeast drive.  I took a few pictures, including a few from our previous stop while we were in the area last month.

There were a number of these paintings along the highways

Excuse our dirty window, but I loved this church on the hill.

A tower disguised "as a pine tree"?

How the scenery changed as we drove mostly a long lonesome highway
We arrived at Midway RV Park in Dexter, NM at 2:44 pm (Mountain Time).  The first park I called was full, and they suggested two others.  I called this park first and with the good reviews I booked a site.  It rained, or there was a light drizzle off and on a good part of the day.  When we arrived at the park, we could tell it had been raining here for awhile, or they had received some heavy rains.  The parking area in front of the office was a huge puddle of water.  The sites were muddy but at least there was no standing water.  If the park would have been full, we would have been able to hold hands with our neighbors.  There is one pedestal located between two sites, to be shared by both rigs.  Our slide was inches from the pedestal.  There was a cattle farm down the road and with the rain, the smell was fairly strong.  Weather aside it wasn't bad since no one was parked next to us.  Fortunately, the park was not full - however, the site next to us, did have two rigs in it - and they were very close.  It continued to rain off and on while we were here.

Aliens are among us here.  I loved the globes on their light poles.

More spring trees in bloom.

After stopping to fill the fuel tank, for our drive tomorrow, we returned to the campground.  We had two hamburgers leftover from last night's dinner, I warmed them and they were almost as good as the night before.  A quick dinner is always good in my book!
It was a pretty quiet evening for us.  We have another long drive tomorrow, moving into northwest Texas, staying near Amarillo.

I texted my cousin to see if he will have any sites open when we return.  The park has been full, so we are prepared to stay at the city's RV Park if needed.  We can stay there a week if we conserve water, but there are no sewer hookups.  The downside to that is, I won't be able to use our washing machine, but I have some options to deal with that.  Right now he is full, but if a site becomes available he will keep it for us.
