Tuesday, October 8, 2019 - Another Busy Day

I woke with a start this morning - I'm not sure why, but I was a little disoriented waking like that.  After getting the coffee started, I did my exercises.  Fortunately I was able to pour a cup of coffee when I was finished, even though the pot wasn't quite full yet.  I was definitely ready for it.  I was too busy yesterday to work on a post so I spent a couple of hours working on it this morning before Dean asked me if we were walking today.

Even though I wanted to say no, I knew we needed to just get up and go.  We left shortly before 7 for the park.  Ooooh, it was much colder that I realized.  I had a short sleeve shirt on under my warm coat, but my arms could feel that wind coming right through the coat sleeves.  It was a little foggy near the river.

Such a beautiful view from our lookout.

By the time we finished walking over a mile, I was warming up nicely though.  Here are two more pictures of our fall banners in the park, and the sunrise this morning.

Such a beautiful sunrise.

Dean is playing golf this morning, so I made our breakfast shakes before he left for the course.  After he left, I showered, and then headed to Vinita to pick up my prescriptions.  I made a quick stop at Walmart afterwards, but didn't find what I was looking for.  I also wanted to stop at Stage - a clothing store there.  I hit the jackpot today.  The store is going out of business and everything was 40% off.  I purchased a couple of tops and a pair of shoes.

When I returned Todd was outside working on the pedestal next to us.  I asked him if he was going to work on ours today.  He told me probably after lunch, but I had time to do another load of laundry.

I called Cindy since I had not talked to her since we got home.  She was headed to Parsons and wanted to know if I wanted to ride along.  Sure, since she was going to Walmart.  I had a couple of things I wanted to get and forgot to pick them up while I was in Vinita.  It was a nice drive getting caught up with each other over the past week or so.  She had several things to do, so I picked up the few things I needed and then I just walked and looked - something I don't do often.  Amazing what you can find when you take the time to look around.  Dean has been looking for some plastic containers to use at the garage, so I took a few pictures of what I found and sent those to him.

Neither one would work for him - they were too tall.

When we returned to Oswego we dropped Cindy's purchases off at her house, we drove by the garage to see what Dean had done since she was here last.  He amazes me with all of the things he has completed.  From there we went back to the RV Park.  I went through all of my drawers, closets and tubs under the bed earlier this morning and laid aside things I could no longer wear.  I wanted her to go through them while she was here.  She left at 4:30 to go watch her granddaughter Dani's volleyball game, taking the things she wanted.

I asked Crystal about borrowing a pair of pants from her for this weekend.  I'm to meet her at her house after she gets off work, so I headed there next.  I ended up borrowing a pair of jeans and a top.  I may have a chance to look for another pair, but in case I don't I'll be prepared for the weekend.  I also left the clothes Cindy went through earlier for Crystal to look through.  It was after 5:30 before Dean got back.  I was getting ready to make dinner, a chicken pot pie.  He wanted to know how long it would take.  When I told him about an hour, he didn't want to wait, so we went to Mi Pueblo.  We haven't been in months and it was so good.  I love their "Grandma's Pork Tacos."

Afterwards we made a little drive around town before going home.  I started working on today's blog post, and making a list of things I need to do tomorrow.  Most of it has to do with our class reunion this weekend, plus a few personal items.

Wednesday, October 9, 2019 - Rain, Rain - Go Away!

I slept in this morning, it was almost 6:15 when I woke up.  I had a headache yesterday and it just got worse as the evening went on.  But I felt great this morning and I'm thankful for that.  After our coffee, we decided we would walk.  It was cloudy to the west but the sun was shining here in the park, hitting the trees to the west of us.  What a beautiful site it was.

Sun hitting these trees this morning was beautiful.

We drove to the park, and walked about 2 blocks, when it started to rain.  I seem to be running in the rain quite a bit lately...if you remember the downpour we had in Grove, OK a few weeks ago.  It's good to know, we can still run if we need to!  Lol!

As we drove down main street, I mentioned to Dean we should eat breakfast at Circle L since we haven't been in a long time.  He was all for that idea!   We haven't gone out for breakfast since we arrived in Yellowstone in August.  As we headed to a table, I was visiting with the couple behind us, asking when they planned to head south for the winter, when our mutual friend Betty walked in.  Thank you for that big hug Betty!

Our breakfast was great...as usual.  The rain stopped by the time we finished.  Dean dropped me off and left for the garage.  I really do not mind doing laundry, but adding three more loads to the normal week's worth, was taking too much of my time.  It's an extra 3 loads with all of the winter clothes I dug out from under the bed storage, but I think we need to be ready to use them this weekend and for the rally next week, so it had to be done.

I made a call to my high school classmate Jamie.  We have been working together on the class reunion.  We went over the details for the coming weekend.  While all of our classmates are not able to be here, we do have decent number attending.  Everyone is looking forward it.  It's been three years since we celebrated our 60th Birthdays.  As we get older, five years seems like a long time in between visits.

I wanted to go to Joplin to exchange a pair of jeans for a different color.  Earlier this week, I had asked Misti (my daughter) if she'd like to go with me.  She is working at the golf course and could only go if it rained.  Since it was calling for rain most of the day, I texted to see if she wanted to go today.  She had a meeting and wasn't sure how long she would be, but she'll let me know when she gets back.  About 11, she sent a text she'd go.  While going in the rain is not anyone's favorite thing to do, spending time with my favorite daughter is a top favorite of mine!  I had to make a quick phone call to another classmate Mark to get some information from him for Friday evening. Dean walked in just as I finished the conversation.  I was grabbing my makeup bag, shoes, and raincoat to put on while asking him why he was back so early.  With the electric on now, he doesn't need to leave the doors open to see, and with the new roof, he didn't realize it was raining so hard.  When he looked out, he decided it would be a good idea to drive the truck out while he could.  At some point, we will need to gravel the drive to the garage.  Right now when it's wet it gets pretty "boggy".  He was able to drive out but not without making a rut in the yard.  Something else for him to fix!  Lol!

I let Misti know I was headed her way, kissed Dean goodbye and was on my way.  Since I had not even put my makeup on this morning, I asked her to drive so I could do that.  It rained hard, but we eventually ran out of it before we reached Joplin.  We made it to Kohl's.  I found the pair of jeans I wanted; took them to the service desk; and five minutes later I was done.  It seems like quite a drive just for that, but I was down to one pair of jeans so I really needed to get these exchanged with the cool weather coming.

Now we needed to figure out where to have lunch.  Misti mentioned there was a Mac & Cheesy place she's been wanting to try.  It sounded good to me.  She thought it was across from the mall.  We found the building but it looked empty.  I pulled into a parking spot to read a sign on the door.  It said they had moved to the south side of Range Line.  When we arrived at the new location it was apparent they were still in the process of reopening.  Now what?  We decided on Cheddar's.  Our food was delicious and we had so much food that I am still not hungry at 8:30 this evening.  I ordered soup and salad for their lunch menu.  I was expecting a cup, but they brought a bowl of soup.  The salad bowl was VERY full; AND they gave me a roll.  I couldn't finish it all.  Our meal was very reasonable.  Misti ordered a buffalo chicken wrap.  The waitress indicated it would be half a wrap, but they brought a full one, cut in half, plus a bowl of soup for her as well.  We may eat lunch here more often as our main meal of the day in the future.  What a great meal for a super great price!

We had a nice visit and I very much enjoyed spending the afternoon with her.  We haven't been able to do that since she's been going to school, studying and working all she can for over a year.  I've missed her, but I am extremely proud of how hard she has worked.

Back at Bentley, the last load of laundry was started.  Then I rested for about an hour before making that chicken pot pie I planned to make last night.  I found the recipe a few months ago.  Both Dean and I really like it, but it makes enough for 2 to 3 meals.  With the amount we have left, I am sure glad Dean enjoys leftovers as much as I do.

Thanks for following along.  It's been a good day, with many things accomplished these past two days.  I pray your day has been good as well.

  1. So pleased for you that you could spend some time with your daughter. I love to do that too although not so often now as she works full time, but we used to meet up almost every Monday and I really miss that time together, it's so special.
