Tuesday, October 1, 2019 - Preparing to Move

Tuesday, October 1, 2019 - Preparing to Move

I was up at little after 5, turned the coffee pot on, put a load of clothes in the washer and set down to finish yesterday's blog.  I wanted to post it last night but I was having a hard time concentrating.  It was to close to bedtime.  I fell asleep quickly and felt refreshed this morning.  The blog is now posted.  Oh, it feels good to be up to date.

Dean and I walked this morning.  We logged 1.4 miles.  It was a beautiful morning in the park.  I took several pictures to share with you.

Sun coming up - peeking through the trees.

It felt good to be moving again.  (3:06pm - I just looked at my exercise bracelet and I've already logged over 14,700 steps today).  Here's why:  after we walked, we had our breakfast and then Dean left to play golf.  Once he left I got in gear, changing the sheets and cleaning - dusting, vacuuming, cleaned the coffee pot, the refrigerator and did another load of clothes.  I recently noticed the bathroom hand towels were not smelling very good after washing them.  I asked Google for some ideas.  It indicated peroxide is the answer so I ran a second rinse after I washed them, adding peroxide.  The hand towel still didn't meet my nose smelling criteria.  I soaked it by itself in a water/peroxide solution for about 15-20 minutes.  After rinsing, the "sour" smell seemed to be gone.  I added the hand towel to the last load of clothes a few minutes ago.  We'll see how it is after that.  I moved furniture to sweep, cleaned the dehumidifier after emptying it, and took out the trash.  I'll clean the shower in the morning before we leave.  I'm sure I missed something.  If it stands out though I can get it then.

It was a beautiful morning but already feeling sultry when we walked.  The weather is supposed to break here on Thursday.  We are leaving for Southern Oklahoma in the morning to attend a Heartland RV Rally where the temps will be in the upper 80's and lower 90's while everyone here is enjoying 70's.  It's worth it though.  We haven't seen any of our friends since March, and some longer than that.  It's always fun to catch up.

The buffalo are almost hidden with these pretty yellow flowers.

Dean came home for lunch.  We just had a tortilla sandwich, with celery sticks, followed by an apple.  A few minutes before 2, I headed to the post office to pick up my package.  I called Tammy this morning and she said they would set it out for me.  She had it at the front desk when I arrived.  While I was there I visited with our former Mayor Glenn, and two friends, Peggy & Kari.  Like I said, I love visiting now since I don't get to see everyone on a regular basis anymore.
Many of the flower areas have really grown.  October 12 will be our fall festival - Oswegofest and the park will look amazing with decorations, booths, games, etc.

My next stop was the grocery store.  I used all my vinegar cleaning the coffee pot.  Since I use it when washing clothes I needed some before I could do the last load.  I never have to use a fabric softener now and NO static.  I'm so glad our friend Jack told us about this.  We also needed some fruit, lunchmeat and milk.

The sun streaming through here is so pretty - it looks like gold!

Dean left to get fuel for the truck, and then he'll go to the garage to piddle.  He still has lots of organizing to do.  When we get back this fall we'll have the electric and water turned on.  He wants to give Bentley a good washing.  We haven't had a place to do it.  We'll just wash it there and then bring it back to the RV park after it has had a chance to dry some.

This is a tulip tree in bloom on October 1, 2019.  I've never seen this happen before.  Oswego has had so much rain this year and everything is green and beautiful unlike most years when the grass is usually turning brown by now.

Tomorrow we plan to leave early - before 9, and make the drive to Durant, OK.  It will be a 5 hour drive for us, but we should be there by early afternoon.

I stopped long enough to work on our end of the month revenues/expenses to see how we came out.  I managed to get all expenses logged from the receipts.  My next step is to check the charges for our credit cards to be sure I haven't misplaced a receipt or there is not an error on the card.  That has only happened a couple of times but once someone had changed an amount so now I check them every month.

I print out the statements each month, so I can compare them.  When I got to the last one it would not let me log in, after trying it repeatedly.  So there was a link to chat with someone - but it wasn't a person, and they finally passed me to a real "chat" person who gave me a number to call.  I called that number and they had to pass me to someone else - fortunately he gave me the number to call, because we were disconnected.  I made that call but I was interrupted with something else and had to hang up.  It was an hour or two later, after dinner before I had a chance again.  Finally, I got it resolved.  I had to answer a few questions to confirm it was me and then it worked like a charm.  I have to say it was very frustrating!

In between resolving the credit card issue Dean and I drove to the golf course so I could visit with Misti.  She has been studying for her physical therapist test every moment.  I send her a text now and then to let her know I'm thinking of her, but I've tried not to bother her.  The test for her license is coming up soon, but we wanted to wish her well and give her hugs before we leave tomorrow.

Son Marc called later.  He had just picked up Jaxson from soccer practice.  Jaxson told me he loves it.  Marc is going to send me a schedule and hopefully we'll be able to see two or three of his games in between rallies and a trip to Branson this month.

I hope each of you have had a great day, and thank you for following along.

  1. I have to admit that I love your single day posts and lots of pictures. :) Sorry, I skip quickly otherwise through the days and can't remember what you've written.
No wonder you got so many steps in, you were a busy lady!
One day we'll make it to a Suite rally, they just are never at the right time of year for us and more $$ than we can spend.
I was going to ask why the vinegar in the laundry but you answered that. a great inexpensive idea!
Have fun at the rally and enjoy the warm weather, ours is turning cool now.

    1. I understand Patsy on the many posts at one time. I would be the same way. This is a Chapter rally so our only cost is the site. I prefer to keep the price around $20/nite, the rally rate is $30 but over all if I can stay under $20 for the month we almost always come out below our budget amount. Heartland pays for some of the food, and of course we all contribute. National Rallies are different but we've only been to one.

  3. We always enjoy being back on the road - unless it's day after day in a row. There is just so much to see.
