Thursday, October 3, 2019 - It's Rally Time - Meet & Greet @ 5:00

Heartland Row at the Rally

I heard Dean get up this morning around 5:30 or so.  I was able to go back to sleep for a little while and it was a little after 6 before I finally got up.  It was nice to have the coffee ready to pour, rather than waiting on it.

I finished up yesterday's blog post between my first cup of coffee and Dean getting ready for his golf game this morning.  He enjoys golf with Dave and Lin.  We just met Darrell, who is also playing, last night when we were at the clubhouse.  He and his wife happened to set by us.  We had a nice visit with them.  In fact we had a great time seeing everyone again and catching up, as well as meeting new friends.  Larry and Donna, former Chapter Leaders, were here in their SOB (some other brand).  They traded in their Heartland for a motorhome.   We were happy to see them, as it's been at least three years.  They were the first couple we met at our first RV rally in April 2014.  It's hard to believe that was 5.5 years ago.  The official rally begins today.

Later, after Dean returns we need to find a grocery store so I can get what I need for "Frank's Breakfast Extravaganza" tomorrow morning and for the Mexican potluck dinner Friday evening.  I'm pretty sure I'll make a french toast bake for Friday morning, but I'm still undecided on Friday evening, but I have a few ideas in mind.  Tomorrow evening we will caravan to KC Roadhouse in downtown Durant.  It's all about visiting and eating at these rallies!  Lol!  After our evening meal, we typically play games in the clubhouse.  Tonight it is LCR.  The first time I played it was two years ago.  We laughed so hard and had a great time.  If you want to laugh a lot - it's the place to be.  Sometimes Dean joins in but often he enjoys just sitting and talking to the friends we've met.

After Dean left, I tidied up in the rig, got ready for the day, and finished cleaning the bathroom.  I just run out of time on Tuesday.  Now it's done and I feel better.  Coffee is ready for tomorrow and the ice machine is going.  You can't run out of ice when it's 90+ outside.

I just finished our September Expense Review.  We were within our budget, but we did have several extra expenses this month, namely RV and truck tags/taxes.  We are doing better on not eating out so much, but during the KS State Fair we did spend more in that category than we would have otherwise.  Besides that we did well.

When Dean returned from golf, we had a quick lunch, then headed to Walmart for the dishes I plan to make for the rally.  That done, we returned and rested for awhile.

Sorry about this poor guy's head being cut off in the picture.  Just as I went to take it, Dean turned the corner.  There are horses all over town similar to this.  When we go to eat dinner Friday night I'll try to take a few more pictures.

We visited with our neighbors Barbara and Clarence for awhile before we headed up to the clubhouse for our meet and greet dinner.  Several of the guys cooked hot dogs on the grill.  We had toppings for those and cookies.  It was perfect since it was not too much.

Afterwards I stayed and played Mexican Train.  I've only played it once before, but I enjoyed it.  I had to leave about half way through though, around 9pm.   I needed to make my french toast bake tonight so it can sit in the refrigerator until I cook it in the morning.  It was nearly 10pm by the time I finshed.  Once I hit the bed I was out pretty quick.

As you can tell by the smiles, we were having fun!  A good way to end the evening, with lots of laughter.
