Monday, September 30, 2019 - Shopping; Phone Calls; Looking for my Mouse...but not a real one.

Monday, September 30, 2019 - Shopping; Phone Calls; Looking for my Mouse...but, not a real one.

I set my alarm for 5:00 this morning to be sure I didn't sleep in.  It doesn't happen often, but when I have plans, I want to be sure I'll get up on time.  I was up at 4:41, so I didn't need to worry.

I turned on the coffee pot and then did a few exercises.  Starting this last day of September, I want to get back to daily walking and exercising.  I will walk today but it won't be outside or with Dean.  My sister Cindy does not have to work today, so we are leaving at 7am for a trip to Joplin.  She has a list but I'm mostly going along for the ride, to visit with her.  I'm not sure exactly what she has on her list but I do know it's something to do with outdoor decorations for fall.

She is picking me up at 7am.  We prefer leaving early so we can be home by mid-afternoon.  Fortunately, we are both early risers - in fact all of my sisters are.

Shortly after 6 I had my "Slimfast" drink and started getting ready.  After that, I did what chores I could do before she arrived - made the bed, picked things up, etc.  I'll do the morning dishes tonight since we'll have a light dinner, it will be a small amount all at once.

Cindy pulled in promptly at 7, and we headed to Joplin - our first stop the Dollar Tree where she was looking for Fall Decorations.  She recently found an old wheelbarrow she wants to add some decoration to out in her yard.  It will be cute.  She definitely takes after my mom when it comes to picking out the right things - no matter what it is.  I picked up several birthday cards and a few office supplies, paper clips and a new notebook for my purse.

What a beautiful sunrise this morning as we headed to Joplin.

Next was Ross.  She found something there but I had no luck.  She wanted to stop at Sally's Beauty Supply to get something she uses on her hair.  Our next stop was at Kohl's.  I was looking for a pair of shoes, and possibly a top and or pants.  I found a pair of pants I liked, but I did not like the price so I left them there.  No success with tops or shoes.  We looked next door at Northpark Mall for shoes at Penney's and Macy's, with no luck.  I tried a shoe store across from Macy's and found a really cute pair of slip-on's that will look cute with jeans, and at a good price of $9.97.

By now we were hungry, and since Logan's Roadhouse was right around the corner we stopped.  We both ordered salads.  As usual they were wonderful.  When we left, Cindy wanted to look for a couple of things at Walmart.

When I was at Parsons a few days ago I found a rug and some pillows I thought would look nice in Bentley.  I'm really wanting to add some color, so I wanted to show them to Cindy to see what she thought of them. She's the decorator, and she approved of my choice, so I'll show Dean and see what he thinks.  We've been talking about taking the side valances off of our windows.  Several are starting to pull out and Dean has tried several ways to reattach them, but they just come out again.  We'd like to replace the accordion shades with pull down day/night shades, too.  All in time!  We could remove the valances anytime.  I would like to change out the material on the top valances as well.

She was ready to check out in no time.  Since there was nothing I needed, I just looked around while she shopped.

Our next stop was Hobby Lobby where she found a few more fall items for her decorations and again I left with nothing....well, she bought a peppermint patty that we shared!  One last stop was at Sam's.  I needed to get some more Slimfast.  They have a large tub there and the price works out to $.98 per serving.  That's much cheaper than the yogurt/fruit I have been eating and the sausage/eggs on tortilla Dean has been eating, so we are going to try it for a month.

We stopped in Galena for something to drink at Sonic - unsweet tea for me and water for her.

Back at Bentley, I put my new shoes and the other items away, put a load of clothes in the washer, and thought I'd update today's post before taking care of a few items before Dean gets back from the garage.

Later, I made a call to one of my classmates, Jamie.  We have been working on details of our 45th class reunion.  Since we are leaving tomorrow and won't be back until a few days before the event, I wanted to get as much done as I could before we leave, and make notes on what I need to do when we get home.  It will be sure be fun to see everyone.

I drove to the garage (where Dean spent his afternoon, after playing golf this morning) to see what all he has accomplished.  I can't believe it is the same place.  He's been organizing and it looks great.  He made good use of the weedeater over the weekend and the property looks really great.

We had a simple meal - frozen chicken pot pies.  I was tired, we like them, so I try to keep a couple in the freezer for days like this.

Saturday evening as I was working diligently to finish up the posts to the blog my mouse just quit.  It fluttered a bit and then would not move.  I knew it had been awhile since I put batteries in it, so I assumed that was the problem.  That wasn't it.  Dean tried using it on his computer with no success, and he "messed" with it.  Typically, if it can be fixed, he finds away; but he told me it's gone!  I think it's 10 years old, so it served me well.  The next morning I ordered a new one.

I tell you this now, because at 7:30pm I realized the new bluetooth mouse I ordered from Amazon should have arrived today.  I walked up to the central mailbox here in the RV park, but it wasn't there.  It's possible it was delivered to the office but at 7:30 I really didn't want to bother Todd, so I came back.  I looked at the message from Amazon, and checked the tracking number.  Interesting it arrived at a carrier facility here in Oswego at 9:51am, then it was transferred to a local postal carrier for final delivery at 9:52am, only to have the package arrive back at the carrier facility in Oswego at 10:29.  There was a message I should now expect it tomorrow or Wednesday.  I'll call the Post Office in the morning and see if I can pick it up there since we are leaving tomorrow morning (Oct 2) and I'd like to have it before we leave.

It was a busy, but good day.  I always enjoy spending time with my sisters.  Other than being back here a few days for my class reunion, we'll be gone for most of October.  After that we'll be here until our new grandson arrives in January.  I know, it's not the time of year to be here, but meeting him will make it all worth it.

  1. Sure sounds like a busy day having fun with your sister. I changed some setting on my track pad and now much prefer that over using a mouse, Good luck with getting it on time.
