Thursday, June 6, 2019 - A busy, full day.

Thursday, June 6, 2019 - A busy, full day.

I woke up at 4:30 to go to the bathroom, but of course when I went back to bed I couldn't sleep so I finally got up at 5:00.  The past few weeks I've slept later and later, and I have really been enjoying these past few early mornings.  After turning on the coffeepot I did a few exercises - mobility to loosen those neck, back and leg muscles.

Dean and I left at 7:15 to walk in the park.  We were the only ones in the park this morning -  usually there are others walking, driving through and/or stopping at the overlook to view the river.

Neosho River this evening  - the water has dropped even more.

Labette County Road Crew must have fixed the county road today.

Back home we enjoyed another cup of coffee, and Dean made his breakfast.  He is playing golf again today and has been able to play every day this week so far.  It may rain some tomorrow but the weekend is supposed to be nice!

After he left, I ate breakfast then did the usual morning chores, make the bed, wash the dishes, put a load of laundry in the washer.  I took care of a few things I needed to mail and then I stopped at a friends to buy some tickets for a dinner to raise funds for our Ministerial Alliance.  They are selling Chicken Annie's fried chicken (3 pcs) and sides.  If you haven't been to Pittsburg or Frontenac, KS and tried one of the fried chicken restaurants, you don't know what you are missing.

Back home, I made a few calls and sent out a couple of text messages seeking information.  I hope I hear something back soon so I can finish up a couple of other things this afternoon.  A classmate of mine, and I are working on our 45th class reunion, to be held in October.  I hope to have something posted to our class Facebook page tomorrow, as well as letters mailed out to those who aren't on Facebook.

My sister Cindy called and she wanted to take the tower of an old computer to Parsons to have a company remove the pictures from the hard drive, so I drove along.  Afterwards we made a quick stop at Walmart so she could pick up something she needed.  I enjoyed the visit.

After she dropped me off at home, I decided to make peanut butter cookies - the three ingredient ones.  I used 1 cup p-nut butter, 1 cup of stevia, and 1 egg.  Baked them at 350 for 6 minutes.  They are pretty good, but next time I'll use smooth p-nut butter rather than with p-nuts.  Even Dean, who isn't fond of p-nut butter, thought they tasted pretty good.  No sugar!  The smooth butter might change the texture so it isn't so crumbly - we'll see.

Another project I wanted to do was make my own seasoning salt, chili seasoning and taco seasoning so they will be completely salt free.  I had my recipes and checked to see if there was anything I would need from the store.  I do, so tomorrow I'll check out the spices at our grocery store.  Has anyone ever tried these?  For the amount of seasonings I will be using I sure hope they are worth it.  I think I will try the seasoning salt first.  It's what we use the most.  I love the flavor of Lowery's but the salt content is just too high for me.

About that time a reminder went off on my phone - today is the Farmer's Market.  I needed to mail a letter so I took care of that and then on to the FM.  Pulled in, and realized I forgot my purse - really?  Fortunately nothing is too far away in Oswego, and I was back pretty quick.  I bought a homemade chicken pot pie and a couple of tomatoes.

I laid chicken tenders out for dinner tonight, but as soon as Dean walked in I knew he would not want to grill tonight.  This afternoon he went to the storage shed to start bringing some things back to the garage.  His shirt was absolutely soaked when he walked in and I could tell he was dragging.  I didn't intend to fix the pot pie tonight, but we made a change.  We'll do the tenders tomorrow or Saturday evening instead.  We grill the entire 3# bag, then I split them into smaller packages that will go in the freezer.  It's nice to have them ready to go in different recipes.  My freezer is almost empty, purposely, as I want to defrost in in the next day or two.  For those of you who have gas/electric refrigerator/freezers, how often do you need to defrost your freezer?

Whoops - the electricity just went off in the park - 7:49p.m.  We'll see how long it takes to come back on.  We decided we would take a ride to the park - we just returned at 8:38 and I think the electric came on a short time before we arrived.  Our Dish satellite was just trying to find a signal when we got out of the car.

What a nice large yard we have!

Another view.

Few clouds rolling in.  Some small thunderstorms may come in about 2am, but no severe weather.

We caught the sun just as it was going down as we drove by the Golf Course.

  1. Another nice busy day with some warm weather is pretty good.
I defrost the freezer in our coach about 2 times a year, the fridge more often. Depending on the humidity in the air.
