Saturday, June 15, 2019 - Trip Planning for summer (and with Matt & Megan), Golf for Dean, and Dinner with Friends
It seemed like a long night for me - I was up three times - which never happens. Lesson learned do not drink so much before going to bed! Needless to say, it was almost 6:30 when I got up this morning. Not the way I expected to get a start to my day. Once I had my coffee, I set down and started the post for yesterday. I want to stay current if at all possible.
Awhile after breakfast Dean left to play golf with Frank. They will be gone until early afternoon so I'm going to put that time to good use. Between washing clothes, doing the dishes and getting the bed made I spent almost the entire balance of that time working on our trip west.
After reviewing it, I really believed we need to cut back somewhat on how far we originally planned to travel. We just don't have enough time to do what we want without moving every few days. We already know that is not the best travel mode for us. It is stressful and what fun is that? Knowing we are going to be traveling back to Kansas with only one day stops for several days in a row, I definitely do not want the entire trip to be that way. I left everything as was but will discuss it with Dean when he returns to be sure he doesn't mind the changes.
I selected places that according to RV Parky and Campground reviews seemed to be decent, although I'll probably do a little more in depth on each one before we leave. I've found google reviews is also another location that provides some really good comments. I'm pretty cheap and except for the reservation I've already made for our week in Yellowstone (which was not cheap) I plan to stick to my monthly "campground" fund, or as close as possible.
I also visited with Matt and Megan about their trip back to Kansas in a couple of weeks and the possibility of their family visiting Branson for one or two days while they are here. Matt loves seeing all of his family while he's here but said he'd like for the kids to have a vacation to do some things geared just for them. It's a great place to do that. We are both looking at what options might be available. Last minute is not the best time to do that, but I know if it's meant to be God will provide.
After Dean arrived home, I told him we were going to have dinner with Frank and Joyce here in Treasure Lake at the Rock and Roll Cafe. To date, all Dean and I have there is ice cream - and it was good, so we are looking forward to giving the food a try.
Then we set down together and I showed him what our trip west would look like the way it was and he agreed we were trying to do too much in too little time. We want to enjoy our trip not wish we'd never taken it. So I eliminated several stops and took a closer look at the areas we want to concentrate on to see if there is anything else we might want to see or do. I still have a lot of work to do and I need to get it finalized soon. We plan to leave on this trip the 10th of July. With Matt and Megan arriving the 28th of June, I want to have the trip pretty well set prior to their arrival, and we already have a busy schedule between now and then. I need to make good use of my time tomorrow and Monday.
At 4:30 Frank and Joyce picked us up for our dinner at Rock and Roll Cafe. Everyone except me ordered the fish and shrimp dinners. I tried to be good and ordered chicken salad on a bed of lettuce. After our dinner, Dean wanted ice cream. I ordered a small - it looked like a large to me. Lesson learned - have Dean get a large and I'll just get a small cup and put some of his in it for me. We sure had a nice visit with Frank and Joyce, with a lot of laughs and that is so good for the soul.
Back home, I spent more time on the trip, and we talked with Matt and Megan again. While there is no definite plan, we at least have some ideas of what they want to do as far as Branson is concerned. Since Brett and his family may want to join us we need to hear from him first. Hopefully we can get that settled tomorrow or Monday.
So that was my day. While nothing is totally in stone, I finally have a plan I can really begin to work with. On Monday I will start calling for reservations. It's a good feeling and I'm grateful it's falling into place!
I really don't know how you do it! You are always so cheerful! Your life seems crammed with visits, plans and regular chores. We are coming back from our long weekend with Mark's annual family camp out and I am tired. Not only physically, but I'm not used to every minute with visits and activities (kayaking, fishing, camp fires and great talks). I'm now planning our Michigan trip and thank you for getting me started by reminding me to live in the moment and remembering to enjoy the plan as well as the journey! We are so looking forward to seeing you both in October!
ReplyDeleteI admit sometimes I get tired, but it keeps my mind and hands busy I guess, and I truly love being around people and doing different things.
DeleteI hope you had a great time on your camp out and that all went well with the new rig. When are you going to Michigan?
I'm sure you or Mark one told me but I can't remember. We are really looking forward to October as well! Thanks so much for posting. I loved hearing from you!
