Monday, June 10, 2019 - On the Go All Day Long...But A Great Day
I woke up a few minutes before 5 and laid in bed for 10 minutes or so before I finally got up and started the coffee pot. I want to leave around 8:15 this morning. I have an appointment to get the car serviced at Toyota in Joplin. A light "Maintenance Required" came on Saturday. When I checked the book it indicated we needed to have the oil changed. Since we are not that familiar with the details of the vehicle we chose to take it to a Toyota dealer.
After my coffee, getting ready for the day, I kissed Dean goodbye and headed south to Chetopa and then east. This is my favorite drive to Joplin and since I've allowed myself a little extra time, I chose to take a more leisurely drive on a back road to get there.
I knew where the Toyota dealer was, but couldn't remember what road I should come out on to get there the easiest, so I turned on my GPS. It took me right to it, but took me in the back way rather than from Range Line. Since I had never been on their lot, I pulled up in front to ask someone where I needed to go, and a nice gentleman must have seen I was "lost". After I explained, he directed me around the corner to the service department where the green arrow was. I got in line and soon a man walked out to my car. He told me to leave the keys in the car and he would have me speak to one of the service guys inside. They asked me when my appointment was and my name - then they asked what kind of car I had. When I said Prius - he smiled and said the Toyota dealer is next door!
Now, I just want to say if I had stayed on Range Line I would have gone to the right place, but entering from the back there was no sign. They did tell me that this happens often, which made me feel a little better about my boo-boo!
I moved next door and they got me taken care of within the hour. While I was waiting I received an email from my cousin asking what happened to me last week - I was going to stop by and see her. Well, I had no excuse except being busy and I forgot to put it on my calendar.
It wasn't long and they called my name. The young man said the car was in good running order, they had changed the oil and told me we should have the tires rotated at the next visit. I was relieved to know the car was doing well. Very happy to hear that news.
My next stop was Academy. I'm looking for some exercise shorts - something cool when we are walking - not cool looking, but cooler than cotton material. I did find a pair I really liked at a price I was willing to spend. If I like them well enough, I might consider a second pair.
From there I traveled on down Range Line to Khol's. Here I was hoping to find a bathing suit and a few other things. I had absolutely NO LUCK and I left very disappointed - especially since I could have saved 30%! I decided when I returned home I was ordering a bathing suit from Lands End. I love their suits, but was hoping to save a little money. They do have a 40% coupon available right now though, which will help. I've had a number of their suits over the years and I prefer them over any others I've owned.
I grabbed some chicken tenders from Popeye's and a large tea. I really miss sweet tea, especially from Popeye's or McDonald's, but I am getting used to regular tea.
My last stop was at Sam's. We eat nuts for snacks so I stocked up on almonds, sliced almonds (I use them at breakfast and on salads), and assorted nuts. My niece Nikki told me about Red Quinoa Chia chips they buy there and I decided I would try them. I love guacamole and being able to have a few chips with it would be great.
On my way home, my phone rang but when I answered it I couldn't hear anyone. I finally realized it was coming through my new earpiece that bluetooths to my phone. I had to grab it and speak into it so LouAnn could hear me. She wanted to let me know she had sent me information to review on the Health Insurance Plan I am planning to switch to. Of course, I could not look for it as I was driving down the road, but told her I would check it out when I returned home, and let her know if I have any questions.
I ordered my bathing suit once I was home, as well as a pair of swimming shorts for Dean. His no longer fit him either. Not that we use them a lot but when you want them - it's sure nice! I do hope to swim some while we are in Branson. Treasure Lake has a beautiful outdoor pool, as well as an indoor pool. They provide a ladies water aerobics session each weekday morning. I can't remember the last time I went swimming but I miss it and look forward to being back in the water.
Dean and I visited a bit before he left to go back to "The Lot" to work for a little while. I didn't have time to do my dishes before I left this morning, so I took care of those and then fixed a meatloaf for dinner tonight. I added green beans and some sliced tomatoes. It was perfect.
After dinner, I picked Cindy up to visit our cousin Martha Walker this evening. I've been wanting to get some additional information on my Great Grandma and Grandpa Duncan's families and just questions about things Cindy and I remembered from our childhood. I found out we are related to more people than I realized. I had no idea Great Grandma had so many sisters and brothers. I love learning about all of this and I enjoyed our evening with her.
It was after 9 before I returned home and I'm ready to call it a night. I'm sorry no pictures today. I was behind the wheel a good part of the day - so very little chance to take pictures.
I hope your day was great!
