Thursday, June 13, 2019 - Branson, MO: Friends and Food - What a Great Combination!

Thursday, June 13, 2019 - Branson, MO:  Friends and Food - What a Great Combination!

I was up before 5:30, turned the coffee pot on and while I was waiting for it to finish, I started packing a few things in preparation for our trip today.  Just a little here and a little there, and  I had put a big dent in our list of things to do before we leave.  The coffee was done perking just as Dean came downstairs.

We had a quick breakfast and then we got busy getting everything else packed up for our move to Branson this morning.  Even though we got around pretty early and I expected we pull out of here by 9:30 if not sooner, it ended up being closer to 10:15.  Dean needed to get fuel for the truck.  He was going to call me when he left the gas station, so I could drive the car to the garage to store while we are gone.  When he called, he was already there, and the overhead door open waiting for me to pull in.  My car was so tiny in there!

We headed back to the RV Park to hook Bentley and begin our drive to Branson where we will spend the next six days. It didn't take us long and soon we were pulling out of Hillside RV Park and headed east.

We received word from Matt & Megan they are coming to Kansas the week of July 4th.  Fortunately, we are not leaving Kansas until July 10th to begin our trek west.  We are looking forward to seeing them and the kids.  They are growing up so fast.  This will be the first time they will be here in the summer as they've typically come around Christmas.  It will be fun for them to be outside having fun versus being cooped up in the house during cold weather.

I spent some time during our drive today looking into possible stops along our way through Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and Montana before we travel back to Wyoming, Colorado and Kansas in order to attend a family reunion at the end of August.  Unfortunately, we were driving into the sun and I had to put it away after an hour.  I plan to work on it some while we are in Branson.

I sent a text to our friends Frank and Joyce when we left, and when we were close to Treasure Lake, I let her know.  A spot became available just a few sites down from them so they walked over and stood there until we arrived.  It's a perfect spot and we sure appreciated them doing that.  Once we got set up Joyce walked down.  She gave me a Harter House (HH) ad (grocery store in this area), a Branson paper and brought my tomatoes she picked up for me when she was at HH.  Thank you Joyce!

We talked a little bit about our summer trips.  We are definitely meeting up with them at Yellowstone, and we may cross paths a few other times.

Our plan for July 10-Dec 31.
Our plan for this trip (I've also tacked on the rest of the year).  Of course, it's always subject to change.

I had planned a call for this afternoon to discuss health insurance with an agent.  I sent LouAnn a text message that I was available, and it wasn't long until she called.  She filled out an application and I soon received the policy to review.  I need to take time to read it in the morning in detail before I call her back.

Next we drove to the post office in downtown Branson to pick up a package.  I ordered Dean and I both new swim suit/trunks.  Their post office is one busy place.  I soon had my package and we headed home.  Dean's trunks fit.  I was not happy with anything I ordered.  I love their suits because they have great coverage, but sizes were the problem.  I wasn't really sure what I needed, and even though I ordered a couple of sizes I just wasn't happy with the way they fit me.  Fortunately, you can return their products to Sears, and we'll take them to the one in Springfield tomorrow.

We went to dinner with Frank and Joyce at a Mexican restaurant called Tequila's.  Dean ordered a burrito (when it arrived it was actually 2 large burritoes).  He brought one home.  I ordered the lunch fajitas.  They were delicious, but I didn't bring anything home.  Afterwards, we set outside and visited with them for 30-40 minutes.  We sure enjoy their company.

I tried to work on the blog after we returned home, but my eyes were too heavy, so I finished it this morning.

  1. Looks like you have a nice trip planned and lots of visiting at the same time. Good for you guys!
As for bathing suits? I think it is the hardest thing for me to buy too. I'm not tall (don't ask Pat though!) but my torso is long and finding one that fits perfectly is difficult. Especially for a cheap gal like me. That's why I've worn 2 pcs. for many years, even the tankini tops and bottoms are flattering.Good luck finding one.

    1. Lands Ends suits fit better length wise than any others I've found. If you happen to be in an area where a Sears store has Lands End section you should check them out. They are more expensive but they last for years. I'm going to keep using the old one I have for now. It's a one piece but I prefer a two piece tankini as well. Eventually I'll find one I like. My old suit has to be 7-8 years old and the color looks like new...a little outdated in style, but it still looks better on.... than anything else I tried.
