Friday, June 14, 2019 - Another Busy Day - Do they ever end?
That is how I felt by yesterday afternoon, but once we were back at the RV, had a chance to sit and rest for a bit, and eat a light dinner, I was energized again! I think I have my mom's energy level - she was always on the go, or doing something. I'm not always as busy with the things I might need to be, but I do like keeping busy doing something. Since I'm not a TV watcher I have to find other things to do to keep me (or my mind) busy.
We were up fairly early today. We have to go to Springfield, and while we expected it to be a quick trip - it ended up taking a much bigger part of the day, so we were both tired by the time we returned.
We left Treasure Lake around 9:30 and headed north. I mentioned in an earlier post that I was going to return bathing suits/trunks I ordered from Lands End to the Sears store. We were hoping to get that done first. We found the store, went in, and surprisingly they actually had a Lands End section in the store. According to the sign that was the only place you could handle Lands End transactions. Someone was in front of us and after waiting for almost 15 minutes or so, Dean said we have to go.
He had a doctor appointment at 11:15 and we still needed to drive there. We have found that it's best to arrive early. You have to register each time you arrive, and there is often a line. Once you are done there you have to wait to be called in, so we like to allow 20-30 minutes before an appointment. Today it was wait, wait, wait. It was after 1 before we were done. Things happen sometimes, and you just deal with them. In the meantime Dean's boys were texting between each other and us, so it help keep us entertained! Thanks guys!
By now we were both hungry. I really wanted to eat at Cafe B-29 in Ozark on our way home but that was 8-10 miles south. That would mean a drive back to Springfield afterwards to go back to Sears. I didn't want to do that, so we went to Golden Corral on South Business 65. It was close to 1:20 when we arrived, and we were surprised it was still very busy. There were a number of selections with empty bowls/pans. I always get salad first to try and fill up a bit, and there wasn't any of the three "greens" available. The fruit was also empty, so I went straight to the entrees. It was a bit better, but the folks in Joplin must be great cooks because the vegetables are so much better (one of the reasons I love Golden Corral so much). They didn't taste like they had any seasoning and they were all cool - not one of them was hot. A number of entrees were empty as well. It was a disappointing choice today. Hopefully it was just an off day.
We headed back to Sears after our lunch, where we spent another hour or more (at least). The Lands End cashier was closed with a sign to go to the jewelry department. We finally found it, and then waited in line (only one person in front of me). It was finally my turn. They had to do a print out of each item I returned (4 items). This required running plain paper through the machine, tearing it off at the back and then putting it back through the register to print the info for each item, that goes in each of the bags they came in. The lady just ripped it off making a jagged end, and it kept jamming the register. She had to finally stop, clear the machine and start all over. I wanted to say quit ripping it out, if you use a smooth edge it might work better. I think her mind must have connected with mine because that is what she started doing and fortunately she made it through that time. I'm sure I was in line and then waiting on her for well over 30 minutes just to return 4 items.
Waiting is not something I do well. Can you tell?
We made one more stop at Khol's but we didn't find anything we were looking for there. Dean wanted to go to Bass Pro, but by then we were both worn out and just wanted to get back to Bentley. We made one last quick stop at McDonald's to get a drink. It was around 4-4:30 when we got back. We love their $1 drinks.
I needed to call my health insurance agent with a few questions I had on the policy I am applying for before I submitted it for approval. Between visiting with her and then going through the procedure online it was another 30 minutes or so. Something that needed to be done though and now it is! Yea!!
We just enjoyed sitting for awhile - although I was catching up on blogs, emails, etc. It occurred to me that my Uncle Richard said they were going to be down here so I sent him an email and sure enough they are here in Treasure Lake. After our dinner, we drove over to see them - via a roundabout way. He said he was in Site 184 and for some reason we headed to Phase I to look - we didn't find it, and even asked someone who directed us to the far end of the area - nope, not there either. It dawned on me that each phase has low numbers and he likes Phase 2, so that is where we headed next. As we headed down the first road we passed a motorhome and I said that's them right there. We started to pull in and then realized the site # was 173. Whoops! So we kept looking all over Phase 2 - the biggest area in the park. Finally I sent a text and asked if he was sure they were in 184 - and no, they were in 173. Well, we all had a good laugh over that. What is really crazy is our lack of attention to detail. I thought it was them earlier because of the vehicle - it looked like theirs, but we failed to look at the tag or we would have known it really was them. When we pulled up the second time I noticed the car tag - sure enough from Labette County, Kansas. I guess our minds were still a little tired from the days activities.
We had a great visit with him and Joyce. I love these too so much and always have a good time with them. It was almost 8:30 when we headed back home, where we just chilled in front of the TV and me on my computer until a little before 10.
While it was a long, busy day, it ended on a great note and I'm very thankful we have the energy to do what we need and want to do.
Sometime those along days can wear you down. Where did we ever find the work??? That is one huge campground glad you finally found them
ReplyDeleteGeorge, I truly do not know how we found time to work? We've discussed that many times. Lol!
