Sunday, June 16, 2019 - Happy Father's Day, Cookout with Friends

Sunday, June 16, 2019 - Happy Father's Day, Cookout with Friends

I woke up a few minutes after 5 to wind and rain.  We could feel the wind hit the side of Bentley and it sounded more ferocious than it really was.  Fortunately, it didn't last long.  I was wide awake, so I got up, and finished my post from yesterday while enjoying my first cup of coffee.

I sent text messages to my son, and Dean's boys wishing them a Happy Father's Day.  They are all such good dad's.  We are really proud of them.

After breakfast and my morning chores, I set down to work on our trip a little more.  I didn't get too far.  I wanted to make a reservation for a State Park in Kansas.  I checked my password list but did not find information for it, so I assumed I had never made a reservation online before.  After I setup a new account I got a message someone had submitted in the past with similar information, so evidently I have set up an account in the past.  I'll call the main office tomorrow to try and straighten that out.  I'm pretty good about keeping my password list updated, but that one definitely slipped through the cracks!

Beautiful Lake Taneycomo, that we passed over on our way to Hollister.

I needed to get some groceries, so Dean and I headed to Harter House in Hollister.  It is the store we like best here in the Branson area.  Since our freezer was getting real close to empty we stocked up on some of their meat specials.  When we returned home, Dean and I vacuum packed the meat before putting it in the freezer.  I don't know if it will help with the frost buildup or not, but we are trying everything we can to reduce it.

Traffic on the Branson strip was heavy this morning!

Such a beautiful day!

We invited Frank and Joyce over for a cookout this evening.  Once we returned home we had lunch and then I started getting things ready for this evening.  We are having hamburgers, guacamole, watermelon and brownies.  Joyce brought deviled eggs and pork n beans.  Perfect meal.

I intended to get more of the Lipton citrus diet green tea we've been drinking when we were at Harter House, so I made a quick run to Countrymart, just a few miles away.  The price was good so I bought two cartons.   We treat ourselves to one of these once a day.   Water is our primary choice but it's nice to have something different occasionally.

On the way back I remembered seeing that our friends Raymond and Carolyn had posted what site they were in here in the park, so I decided to check and see if they were in our Phase when I returned to the park.  Good grief, I had driven by their spot several times.  They are just at the other end of the road leading to our site.  I visited with them for 5-10 minutes, but we'll stop to see them tomorrow and spend a little more time with them.

I love this tray that my friend Mary gave me when I was her "Secret Sister".  I love that it's patriotic and that it fits our way of life as we visit all of our wonderful states.

Dean put our awning out.  We attached the sunscreen to give us some reprieve from the sun and it actually made a big difference.

Dean was in deep thought!

We needed a little color.
And of course, I forgot to take pictures of us all once Frank and Joyce arrived.  We had a good time visiting during and after dinner.

After getting everything picked up and put away we pretty much rested the remainder of the evening.

Dean wants to go look at golf clubs tomorrow.  I hope to work on my travel itinerary as well.  We also need to visit with a few friends here in the park.  We'll be leaving in a few days, with Dean's hometown of Garnett, KS being our next stop.
