We were up early this morning to finish putting things away before leaving Val's Kountry Corral for our first season here in the Rio Grande Valley. I had everything put away and was ready to take my things to the truck when I heard Dean talking to someone. Dean came to the door and said Gary is here. Gary is our friend who asked us to go to church with them. I was so glad he came by. His truck was not at his site when I walked yesterday. He and his wife are lovely people and we look forward to seeing them again next winter. It will still dark, when Dean pulled out of Site #23, as we began the trek to Ron Hoover RV in Donna, TX. It took us approximately an hour to make the drive, taking the southern route of 281 rather than I-2. It was a nice leisurely drive in comparison to morning rush hour and construction zones.
We pulled into Ron Hoover's service area a few minutes past 8:30, then walked in where we saw John, the service manager we have been working with. Dean went out to unhook Bentley while I took care of the paperwork. John told us he would keep us updated about the process, so we left, looking for somewhere to have breakfast.

As we drove down the road, Dean said - There's a place that is "Now serving breakfast". It was Taqueria de Jalisco, so we pulled in. They had several breakfast meals that could be plated or made as a taco. Dean chose a breakfast plate of scrambled eggs and ham with flour tortillas and I had the huevos rancheros with corn tortillas. They served us tortilla chips and warm salsa before our meal, and coffee also came with it. We thought it was a pretty good breakfast at a decent price.

We had time to kill so we decided to check out Don-Wes Flea Market. I am interested in buying some Dawgs shoes. They are similiar to Crocs only in a sandal form. Last night I looked online to see what they are selling for, so with that in my mind, we set out to find some. After walking through the market twice we finally spied them. Finding shoes to fit my long skinny feet is not always easy - but these were great. I really liked them but could not bring myself to pay $60 for the two pairs I wanted when I knew I could get them online for much less. We enjoyed sitting and listening to the music for awhile before we left Don-Wes.
We stopped at two other flea markets - one was small and we did not find anything there we needed. The second one was quite large but the only thing I found were some marking pens I thought we could use at our spring rally for some games we will be playing.
While at the second flea market we received a call from John at Ron Hoover to report on the washer/dryer install. They had the vent installed and he thought it would probably be about an hour and half before they would finish up. We finished our walk through the market, then returned to the truck. It was about 1:00. We decided rather than eat lunch we'd just have a blizzard down the road at Dairy Queen. After we finished we drove back to Ron Hoover's and waited until the work was completed. We didn't have to wait too long. I was very happy with the way they had situated it, so it will give me plenty of room along side the unit to place my mop and broom, and enough room in front I can store my laundry soap supplies as well as some other cleaning supplies I use. Perfect! It's all about proper storage in a small area like an RV!

We pulled into Bit o' Heaven RV Park just a few miles down the road for the night between 3:30-4:00. I was anxious to do some laundry - can you believe I said that??? Truly, I actually enjoy doing laundry and always have.
The ladies in the office gave us our site number and said Charlie would be over to assist us backing into the site. Floyd also showed up to help. It's a good thing they were both there because they had quite a time getting us into a very tight spot. It took about 15 minutes of them maneuvering us around a tree and to watch we did not back too close to the utility hookups behind us. It was not a good site for us at all. Once they finally got us situated and we told them we were only there for one night they about had a fit. "Why did they put you here when we have sites all over this place you could have backed into with no fuss at all." I'm just so glad I was not trying to direct Dean into this site on my own. I'm sure our patience would have been stressed to the max, but God was with us. Instead we were stress free and laughing at the situation. I'm so thankful for these little miracles that God sends our way.
While helping to get us situated, Floyd noticed our Kansas tags and wanted to know where we lived. He lives in Abilene Kansas. His wife Ardis was with him, but had been sitting in their golf cart. She came over and we all started talking. She used to work for the City of Abilene and knew their City Clerk - Penny. I know Penny from City Clerk/Municipal Finance conferences we attended together. What a small world!
Our friends Larry & Gayle are staying in this park. I sent a text to let them know we were here. Dean and I finished getting Bentley set up - putting out slides, getting things put away inside, etc. I started reading the manual on how to operate the washer, and soon had the first load going. Gayle showed up a short time later. As we talked, she commented on how quiet our unit was and how little vibration there was. Dean and I were both surprised too because you could hardly tell it was running except for the highest spin and even then, there was only a slight vibration. Gayle helped me out on the dryer side and the settings to use, which I appreciated. After the cycle, the towels were almost entirely dry - very slightly damp. After three cycles at the laundromat, the towels were always still very wet. This evening I just hung them up. They felt dry before we went to bed but I let them hang dry all night. It felt so good to be here in the rig doing this instead of sitting in an uncomfortable laundry/laundromat. Yes, Dean you were right. I should have listened to you from the beginning!
Larry, Gayle's husband stopped by a short while later and we had such a great visit with them before they left to attend a show being held here in the park tonight. We were pretty tired and still needed to eat dinner so we opted out for the show. Dean did a quick search for chicken places and Popeye's came up. We both like their chicken and it was close. We drove down, picked it up and came back to the rig. It was a good dinner. Even though it was a long day, it was very successful. I am very pleased with the work that Ron Hoover did and how well they worked with us and respected my wishes to provide me the most room possible for storage.
Tomorrow we move to Rockport, Texas to spend the night and visit with our friends Frank and Joyce.
