We were up and about early this morning. We are going to meet up with a friend of mine, Tom Curnutte, who I've known since High School, and attending the Southern Baptist Church in Oswego back in the 70's when Pastor Kelly Winlock was there. We've stayed in contact over the years through his family in Oswego and Facebook.
Tom has been dealing with some health issues and when I found out we were only 18 miles from where he lives, I told Dean I'd really like to go see him while we are here. We arrived at his house about 8:30 or so and had a great visit. A short while before we had to leave his son Greg and granddaughter Madeline stopped by. Greg's other daughter Hannah was not feeling well so she was at home with mom and her me-maw who was visiting over Spring Break. It was so good to see them. I wish we had more time to visit.
Madeline was only a few months old the first time I met her. She's now 2 1/2. She was just beginning to warm up to us when we had to leave, but she did tell us goodbye with a big smile. What a cutie!

On our way back I called Sandi to see if they would be interested in riding over to Camping World with us. They were, so when we returned to the park we stopped by their rig to pick them up. This camping world was quite large and had at least one of the largest camping supply stores we've seen for awhile, maybe ever. Dean found a couple of items he wanted and I found a "Life Is Good" shirt on sale that I couldn't pass up.

Afterwards we ate lunch at a restaurant that Larry and Sandi recommended, Tad's of Katy.
Dean ordered a shrimp platter with potato salad and a tossed salad. I ordered a chicken sandwich with bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, served with battered french fries. Larry and Sandi shared a seafood platter. We all agreed the food was delicious and very filling.
Shortly after we ordered, Larry asked if we'd like to stop by their son's house to visit with him and his family. We thought that sounded great. Larry called him to see if they had any plans. They were having lunch but would meet us back at their house in an hour or so.
We arrived just a short time before Preston and family (Erika, Devon and Addison) returned home. They have a lovely home with a beautiful back yard that featured a nice swimming pool, hot tub and setting area. After yesterday's hot, humid day today was quite refreshing. There was a nice breeze and clouds overhead that prevented the sun from making it uncomfortable. It was perfect for sitting outside.
Dean and I had some questions for Preston about streaming on our TV. We have a Dish Tailgator and when it works it is great. Unfortunately it doesn't pull in a good signal for the shows I like to watch - HGTV and Food Network. I rarely watch TV because of this. It is frustrating that we pay for the channels but I can't watch them - live or recorded because of the poor signal.
After discussing our options, we will be purchasing an Amazon Fire Stick in the near future and then downloading the Dish App to see if this will not solve the problem for us. The cost of a new satellite dish is pretty expensive in comparison to the Fire Stick.
We left there around 5:00 and headed back to Larry and Sandi's where we visited for another hour or so. We decided rather than eat another big meal, we'd just visit our favorite Texas Stop Sign - DQ for a little ice cream therapy. Yum Yum!
We had a great day spending time with good friends and family. Tomorrow we will move on to Gatesville, near Waco, TX for three days. We are planning to meet up with some friends from Kansas while we are there. So check back to find out what all we find to do!

You've got a lot of visiting in and it sounds wonderful! Keep on enjoying the good times. Madeline is a cutie for sure!
ReplyDeleteTravel safe to Waco and enjoy your time there.
We are just having so much fun seeing family and friends as we travel back to our home base. It's just one part of the full-time life I love. There's nothing like actually seeing a person you care about versus a phone call or a note.
