We were up early but were slow getting around this morning. We are not feeling the need to rush today as we have the last two moves - this is the way we prefer it to be. We had managed to complete most of our packing when we received a text from Larry saying the Do-nuts were here! We finished up a few more things and then walked down to enjoy some wonderful Shipley do-nuts. They are so good - very similar to Jenks do-nuts we all ate growing up from the Oswego Bakery!
Unfortunately, we had to say good-bye to Larry and Sandi, and move on north! We had such a great time with everyone - Tom, Greg & Madeline; Larry & Sandi; and Preston & his family. We love taking the time to see family and friends on our journey!
By the way, I logged on to Amazon this morning only to find the Amazon Fire Stick with voice remote on sale for $24.99 - regularly $39.99. I ordered it and we'll pick it up when we arrive in Wichita the last week of March. We are anxious to try it out.

Bentley at our site in Westlake RV Resort, Houston, TX |
This has been a week of birthdays for our family and today we want to give a shout out for one more Birthday Wish -- to our daughter-in-law Renae! We hope your day is wonderful!
After we returned to Bentley, it didn't take long before we had completed our packing, hitching up and we were ready to pull out of Westlake RV Resort. Fortunately, the Sunday traffic was pretty mild compared to our travel into the city. It was a pretty relaxing drive all the way to Mother Neff State Park, outside of Moody, TX. It was apparent there were some heavy rains recently as there was standing water in the fields, along the road and puddles in most of the towns we drove through.

Beautiful countryside as we neared Mother Neff State Park. |
The personnel at the Park Office were very nice, and helpful. Since we purchased the Texas Park Pass while in Mission, we did not have to pay the daily park fee for the three days we will be staying here. In addition, with the purchase of the pass, we received 4 camping coupons for 1/2 off one night with a minimum two night stay at any state park, so we saved an additional $12.50 on our stay here. The daily fee is $25 per day for full hookups. The daily entry fee is $2.00 for each person over 13, so altogether we saved $24.50 by having the park pass. A nice savings!

The park has 10 short trails, totaling 3.07 miles, so we look forward to walking either in the morning or evening - maybe even both depending on what we do each day and how much time we have. We are both anxious to get back to walking or riding our bikes every day. There is a park road that will work well for riding our bikes if we have time.
We needed groceries! We are both getting tired of having most of our meals at restaurants (although I'm sure we'll do some of that while we are here since we plan to spend the next two days in Waco or other nearby cities), and we needed to stock up. After we had time to relax awhile, we headed to Walmart in nearby Temple, TX. Tonight we had the most amazing rib eye steak dinner, thanks to my wonderful husband! He cooks them perfect every time! We shared a baked potato and I threw together a salad with a little leftover lettuce, a tomato and an avocado. What a great meal!
Now we are relaxing while watching American Idol! What a great day we've had.
sounds like an awesome deal at the park you are at. Enjoy your stay.
ReplyDeleteWe watched American Idol too. :)
This was a lovely little park, so quiet. Unfortunately we didn't get to walk any of the other trails while we were here. Partly because we were busy and they were really muddy after the rains they had right before we arrived. I'm so glad American Idol is back!
