We were up early again this morning and again with the hopes we would pull out close to 8:30, but it was 8:52 before we made it. Today we are heading to Houston, TX where we will spend two nights at Westlake RV Resort. We will be visiting with Dean's older brother Larry and his wife Sandi. They winter at this resort. Their youngest son and his family live in Houston.

I took this picture as we crossed the bridge. I couldn't believe this bird flew into my view just as I snapped the shot. Such a beautiful picture.

We stopped at this roadside rest stop. These trees are really beautiful.
Another stop was in Wharton, TX at a Buc-ee's. We have heard our RV friends talk about this place and we had to see it for ourselves. It started to rain as we walked inside so I didn't take time to get any pictures.

This place was huge. We each got a brisket sandwich and a bag of homemade potato chips to share before heading back to Bentley. We didn't tarry here too long.

You can see there were some good storm clouds but we only ran into a little rain on the road and what fell as we went into Buc-ee's.

Going through Houston, TX
We arrived at Westlake RV Resort after a very tedious drive through Houston at 1:17p.m. We were glad to be here. As we walked in the office to check in they asked if we were the Peine's. I was surprised - but she said she could see the resemblance between Dean and his brother. They had a couple of packages for us and also a few pieces of mail for Larry that we will give to him once we get set up.
They told us which site Larry and Sandi were in, and as we turned the corner to head to our spot, I looked to our left and I could see them sitting outside. Once we had unhitched, set up and put out the slides, we turned the air conditioner on, then walked down to Larry and Sandi's travel trailer. It's always good to spend time with Dean's family and today was no different. We had a lot of laughs, caught up with what was going on with each of us and our kids.
We went to dinner at Clay's, a restaurant that was not too far from the RV park. What a great meal we had. I chose the catfish tacos with rice and beans; Dean had chicken fried steak and Larry and Sandi both chose cheeseburgers/fries. The burgers were huge!
