As I mentioned in yesterday's post, today is my firstborn's birthday. What a special day that was! Becoming a mother for the first time was awesome but also a little scary for a 20 year old. Misti was bright eyed and alert almost from the moment she arrived. She was such a good baby and the sweetest little girl. I was/am very blessed to have such a wonderful daughter. Happy birthday Misti Dawn, who just happened to be born on a misty dawn. If that doesn't prove the name we picked out for her was appropriate, I don't know what else would.
Later in the day, while taking a look at Facebook, I learned that Misti shares her birthday with my favorite teacher of all time - Mrs. Ed! She taught our high school business classes - typing, shorthand, bookkeeping, etc. I loved it and used those skills everyday in my working life (the shorthand changed to speed writing later, but it set the base, and certainly made taking minutes for the many meetings I attended much easier). Thanks Mrs. Ed for being such an excellent teacher and caring so much about your students! I hope your birthday was wonderful.
We really had a slow, laid back day. Dean did a little work outside, draining what water was left in the fresh water tank, checking the tire pressure for both the truck and RV, and put away most of our outside things. We will be busy a good part of the day Tuesday so we've been trying to get as much done and out of the way as possible to make our departure Wednesday morning a little easier.
I guess I was feeling a little homesick today. I called my Aunt this morning and had a nice chat with her. I miss everyone and look forward to seeing them all soon. Later I called Misti to wish her a Happy Birthday, and then talked to my sister Cindy for awhile in the afternoon.
Dean wanted to go to the driving range, so I rode along with him. I set in the truck and read with the window partially down. Saturday and Sunday we had temperatures above 90 degrees. Last night the wind changed, and the temperatures started dropping. It was in the high 50's, low 60's this morning with some strong winds. The wind died down around noon so it was near perfect sitting in the truck.
After dinner (I made chicken taco salad) we took a walk around the park. Not too far from our rig we stopped to visit with Roger when he asked us where we were from. In a little while his wife Shirley came out. We visited with them for awhile, then Donna stopped. About 20-30 minutes later we made it home, but not before we stopped to visit with our next door neighbors Ray and Tracey. We are slowly getting to know more of the park members. We have a roster listing everyone in the park, along with pictures and contact information. As we meet someone new I make a note about each couple/individual to help me remember who they are.
Back at Bentley, we watched American Idol. This is one girl that is so glad it is back on the air. I started watching the year Carrie Underwood was a contestant and haven't missed a season since. There is very little I will even consider watching on TV, so I really look forward to a show that I enjoy.
