We didn't have time to walk since we want to leave earlier than usual this morning. It doesn't really get light enough to walk until after 7 and it was foggy this morning. Hopefully we can walk later today.
One of the things we have picked up since we joined the local chapter of Escapees (SKP) is the card game called Hand and Foot. I love to play cards - thanks to my mom and dad, who loved to play cards, and taught us different games at an early age. Playing a game like Hand and Foot with a group of folks is just a lot of fun. A couple of years ago, Donna (our friend in Harlingen) brought this neat little wooden cart on wheels that she had purchased in South Texas to hold cards for Hand and Foot. It has three trays and you could just move the cart back and forth on the table, instead of having to reach over everyone to get to the cards. We often play with six people so it can be a real reach to pick your cards each hand. When we visited them last week, I asked where she had purchased it and she told mat the Victoria Palms Craft Sale. I checked the Winter Texan newspaper and the craft sale is today, so we are headed that way. The craft sale begins at 9.
We left the park around 8:30 to make the drive to Victoria Palms, about 24 miles away.

A little foggy and damp outside this morning. |
As we were getting closer I pulled up their website to see if I could find out where the craft sale was being held within the park --- only to find out the sale is next Saturday, not today. Well, that was pretty disappointing. However, there was a silver lining to this cloud! We were only a short distance from Orale Super Tacos - where we ate lunch last week, and the best part is they have breakfast tacos too!
We didn't have time to eat breakfast, so we are here, why not? We ordered one of the 14" breakfast tacos to share. At $5.99 it was a bargain! It was stuffed with scrambled egg, ham, cheese, and potatoes. I cut it in two and gave a slightly larger part to Dean. He doesn't care for salsa, so I drowned my half in the warm salsa they brought for us. It was delicious.

Orale Super Tacos - Weslaco, TX |
As we left the parking lot of Orale's, we could see this old water tower in the distance, and there was a beautiful building just a couple of blocks away. I could tell by the sign on the building it had some history to it and I wanted to see what I could find out about these two unique structures.
First was the Villa de Cortez. I know Dean thinks I'm a nut sometimes, but to me this is all part of the journey we are on - seeing interesting things and then finding out more about them. Especially when they are so unique and you can see their is a definite history - a story to be told.

Very interesting and unique historical structures in Weslaco. |
As we left the downtown area of Weslaco we continued on Business 83. We drove past Don-Wes Flea Market. It was already getting busy, but as I mentioned earlier, we will return on another day.

Don-Wes Flea Market - held every Wed, Sat & Sun. |
We've heard about Don-Wes Flea Market for a few years as we have met RVer's. We will definitely go back and spend some more time. I prefer to do that early some morning when I have more energy! We still have several weeks left, but I think we may need to get it on the calendar the way time is flying by.
It was nearly 11:30 when we pulled in up in front of Dennis and Pam's. We visited for a short time before walking over to look at the bicycles. The person who was interested in the electric bike purchased it, so there were two left. We bought the ladies bicycle for me. Dean wanted a little thicker tire than the men's bicycle had, so we will continue looking for him. We chose to buy gently used bicycles versus new ones so we could see how much we might use them before investing a lot of money in new or more expensive bicycles. We hope to make use of it to ride within Bentsen RGV Park, just a short distance from us.
Once Dean paid for the bicycle, Pam and I took a ride through the park. I'm not sure how far we rode but probably close to a mile. The bike rides nice. I will definitely need to replace the seat but otherwise it is in very good shape.

My new "to me" bicycle |
We headed back to Bentley. We hung out here the rest of the day. I wanted to do some cooking this afternoon for a Super Bowl Party at Dave and Nancy's tomorrow evening. I've been wanting to make a cheesecake in my Instapot for quite awhile, but since I just received my springform pan that fits my Instapot a short while ago, I've not had the chance. I felt like this would be the perfect time to do it, mostly so we can share it with our friends. Hopefully there will be no leftovers to entice us. The recipe says to try and chill the cheesecake overnight, so it works perfect to make it today. I also made spinach artichoke dip and refrigerated it. Tomorrow I'll make the topping for the cheesecake and bake the dip prior to the party.
Later in the afternoon, we did walk a couple of laps around the park, and we made a trip to Walmart. The Heartland group is having a Super Bowl Party at Dave and Nancy's tomorrow and I needed to get a couple of things for that. A busy, but another fun day in the Valley!
