Tuesday, August 4, 2020 - Morning Outing; Afternoon Walk; Evening Drive and Sunset!

Tuesday, August 4, 2020 - Learning the New Blogger; Visiting Historic St. Charles;

An early morning wakeup at 4:30 felt good this morning, after a great night's sleep.  We have a day of exploring ahead of us.  We are looking forward to seeing some new sights, as we have not been in this area before.  The temperatures are much cooler so we will enjoy being outside today.

After proofing my post from yesterday I was able to post it this morning.  I was surprised to see I won't be able to use legacy Blogger much longer, so I decided I may as well get used to the changes.  I suppose, as with most changes that I will in fact get used to them, but the learning process can sometimes be frustrating.  I will try to have a good attitude about it!

It was 62F when I woke this morning, and 69 inside our rig.  At 6:26 it has dropped 1 degree for both!  It doesn't seem like it should be this cool already, not that I am complaining about cooler temperatures.  It's been quite enjoyable.

We left 370 Lakeside RV Park about 10am, with a destination of Historic Downtown St. Charles, MO.  It was an easy drive to reach it.  Something we really appreciate in an area with so much traffic.  This is a good time to be out after most folks have already gone to work, and the roads are relatively traffic free.

We had to drive around a bit before we found the right street.  I took several pictures during the ride.

After driving down Main Street, we parked and walked a path along the Missouri River.

A large cottonwood tree along the river path.

We returned to the RV Park for lunch, ham/cheese sandwiches and our apples.  Afterwards, we decided to take a walk.

The sky was beautiful on our walk this afternoon.

Wonderful walking paths that go all the way around the lake.  Each light pole has a different animal on display - fox, racoon, eagle, heron, beaver, etc.  They are repeated throughout the park.  They have bicycles and canoes for rent.  There is a large corporate pavilion, boat ramp, horseshoe pits, picnic pavilion, playground, sand volleyball, sunset pavilion, and a primative camping area.  There are 75 full service RV sites.

Archery Range - notice the animal targets.

Really neat bird & flower metal sculptures.

Who would have expected to find this amazing dog park?

Large area with all kinds of obstacles for the dogs to run around, over, etc.

The sunsets have been wonderful too!

We've sure enjoyed our time here!  Tomorrow we will move further east to Vincennes, Indiana.

  1. Kay and I visited St. Charles a few years ago for cycling the Katy Trail. If you ride bicycles, a short trip is worth a try. I used Blogger for years, and finally became so frustrated with it that I switched to WordPress. Blogger was great, but I really like WordPress, also a free blogging platform used by about 75% of bloggers. Safe travels from DunnGone.wordpress.com
