Since check-in time at the KOA in Crawfordsville was not until 1pm, we were not in a hurry to leave this morning. It was 10:30am when we pulled out of Ouabache (Wabash) Trails Park. We never had to turn the air conditioner on the entire time we were here. Yes, it was perfect 60-70 degree weather....and it was wonderful. We took State Highway 67 to Spencer, then transferred to US Highway 231 into Crawfordsville.
We are constantly amazed at some of the drivers on the highways today. A truck pulling a small trailer passed a car in front of us, and before the driver of the truck/trailer could get back in their lane, another car went around it and passed it on the shoulder. Thankfully no one else was behind us and Dean immediately slowed down, just in case there would be a problem. Fortunately it was okay, but why must people be in such a hurry they take a chance hurting someone else. Thanks to our Father in Heaven who was watching over us.
Other than that episode, our drive today was pretty laid back. We were not in a hurry. We just enjoyed the ride.

I couldn't get my phone turned on quick enough to get all of these. There were 3 engines just sitting on the track in the middle of the countryside. Pretty colors!

If you have followed our blog for long, you know how I love old barns.

I didn't even notice the cow on top of the building until I was posting this. I took the picture because of the flags up and down the highway. What a surprise, when I saw it later!

Are these beautiful grain bins or what? There was quite a bit of traffic at the stop sign. I was fortunate to get one good shot.
Dean was not thrilled when he discovered he had to make a circle around the square in Greencastle, IN, but I WAS thrilled as I was able to see and get a couple pictures of the Putname County Courthouse.

I love rounded underpasses, but I don't think I've ever seen so many wires going through them as this one had, that we had to pass under. If you enlarge it you can see there are two sets, criss-crossed. I'm glad it was high!
In Crawfordsville, IN we passed the Montgomery County, IN Courthouse. When we took a ride later I was able to get these pictures. The ones I took as we drove by on the way in were full of wires, poles, street lights, street signs, etc. I was so glad we were able to see it like this.
It was 1:54 when we were parked in our site at Crawfordsville KOA, IN. I loved the touchless connection there. The lady gave us a map to our site. Her instructions were not the best....we ended up going the wrong way; but it all worked out and we were soon in the right location and set up. There were only a few RV's parked in the areas around us when we arrived and one or two have been moving in every little bit while we have been here. At 9:21 the park is pretty full.
We took a ride around town, but neither of us were in a mood to explore much. We discovered Parke County is the same county we visited 2 years ago, where a number of the Covered Bridges are located. There were a few near us, but they were about 30 miles south of us, where we just traveled from. We were not interested in driving back the way we came this afternoon, so we passed on it. If we had more than one day, we would explore.
We have not had the air conditioner on here either, although it is a little warmer than what we experienced in Vincennes. The temperatures tonight are supposed to drop in the low 60's. That should be great sleeping weather.
It was actually quite nice sitting outside the RV this afternoon enjoying the cool temperatures and for once we got to watch everyone park, instead of them watching us!
I hope you have a good evening.

I also love old barns along with silos! Love all your pictures of your travels. Looks to me you are in a great part of the country with all the old towns. I love watching everyone come into a park too!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Having worked for a small town most of my adult life, I enjoy driving through them. Dean worked for the telephone company in small towns two and he's looking at poles and what company serves them, and I'm looking at streets, curbs, parks, etc. We love it!
