I was up early this morning and after my first cup of coffee I started getting things ready for our move. We still needed to take the car to the garage since we'll be gone for over a month. After leaving it, we returned to Bentley and finish our last few steps before hitching up Bentley. It was 9:23am when we pulled out of Hillside RV Park in Oswego, on a beautiful 74 degree morning.
It was 12:21 when we were finished setting up at RV Express 66 RV Resort right off I-44 in Marshfield, MO. It's a small park with 16 sites. We had a pull through site which we are always happy to get. We did the minimum set up, jacks down, slides out, electric hooked up and air conditioners on, before we hopped back in the truck and drove the few miles back towards Springfield to Camping World.
Besides my chair, Dean needed a few things as well. We paid and headed back toward Marshfield. As we left, I sent a text to our friends Drena and Keith. to let them know we were on our way.

After we returned we had time to freshen up a bit before Keith & Drena arrived. They parked near the office, then we walked across the grassy area to the parking lot of El Charro Mexican Restaurant where we enjoyed a late lunch together. Drena was so nice to make
Dean and I some masks as we are traveling through several states in the next few weeks.
We enjoyed a wonderful meal together. Afterwards they joined us at our site where we set outside and visited for an hour or two. Time flew by, as it always seems to when good friends are together, and they headed home.
Dean enjoys taking a ride around in every town we stop for the night and honestly, I do too. So about an hour later, we did that. As we neared the turn to the park; the truck noticed Missouri has DQ's too; and Maxx (our truck) insisted on turning in for a blizzard! Fortunately it was across the street from the RV Park, so we returned to Bentley to enjoy eating it inside. It's hard to believe it's only August 2 and it is so cool outside. Speaking of cold, while sitting outside earlier visiting with our friends, there was a really nice breeze. All of a sudden water was dripping all over me. The air conditioner runoff, was just to my right and the wind blew it right on me. What a shock -- it was cold!
When we returned Dean noticed the clock on our microwave was not working. He got up and walked over to set it. When he tried to enter the time it would not work. He unplugged it and plugged it back in. Nothing. He tried to turn the air conditioners on and neither would come on - in the bedroom or the living room. He went outside and took the EMS Surge Protector off the electric cord and plugged the cord directly into the pedestal and everything started right up and was working fine. We've decided a new EMS Surge Protector is needed. Fortunately, everything continued to work fine after we removed the old surge protector. We will make another trip back to Camping World in the morning to purchase a new one.
Despite the way the day ended, we sure enjoyed our drive today and meeting with our friends for a nice afternoon visit. I forgot to take a picture of the four of us while they were here though. It's easy to forget when we are having such a good time.
I forgot to mention we voted yesterday afternoon at the courthouse, early voting, since we will not be here next week. It was interesting to use their new computer to enter our choice for the positions up for election, and we left with our "I VOTED" sticker.

Thank you. Thanks for following along.
DeleteIf I had known you were going on a tour of Marshfield, I would have given directions to the square with the replica of the Hubble telescope, and the old log cabin at Hidden Waters park.
ReplyDeleteI don't always know what Dean is thinking. LOL!!! It's close enough to stop again someday, so we will be sure to get the info. We enjoyed seeing the town and the choices in restaurants, and of course the ice cream!
