Well, we didn't make it out of the campground until after 6:00am.... it was more like 7:45am. As we headed north from Saco on I-95 I was a little concerned because of the amount of traffic heading north like us, but it soon cleared up and it was smooth sailing the rest of the way.
Crossing a bridge as we leave Portland;

The sun was so pretty shimmering across the water.
Picture of trees - what we will see for several miles;
and of a few boats - which I can't take enough pictures of.
A short way down the road, we noticed a large bird flying over and then it dipped down so close to a car we thought it would be hit - fortunately it wasn't. At the time it made the dip, we realized it was a beautiful eagle. I wish I would have had enough time to take a picture of it. Such an amazing sight!
We saw several moose crossing signs - just wish they'd use them - so we could see one! Lol!
More trees....
We crossed the Kennebuck River.
It wasn't too long and the sky began to cloud up. There is a 40% chance of rain today.
We are seeing a few more trees in the process of changing colors. Here's one I was able to get a picture of.
The clouds are getting darker, and we did receive some sprinkles, but nothing heavy during our drive.
We left 395 and took 1A East to Ellsworth/Bar Harbor
We started seeing some different country at this point, including hills and more clouds.

Notice the light colored mountains in the background - those are on Mount Desert Island/Acadia National Park.
As we drove through Ellsworth we looked for anything that seemed familiar - it's been about 12-14 years since we were here last. I have to tell you nothing was familiar at all. However, as we neared the bridge that would take us to Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park we did remember a few things - especially the Trenton Lobster Pond, on the right before crossing the bridge. It was the first place Dean had a lobster during our last visit. I didn't manage to get a picture today but I will before we leave here.
We arrived at our campground and checked in. Fortunately they had a number of full hookup sites still available. We really wanted 50 amp, but ended up taking a 30 amp site for a couple of reasons. The weather is supposed to drop into the 70's (days) and to mid 40-50's (nights) after today. Chances are we will not be running the air conditioner, and without it we can do almost anything else electrically without any issues; and second we are right across the road from some nice views of the waters around Bar Harbor.
When the site across from us is empty this is our view - unfortunately sites do not stay vacant very long - we were just lucky this afternoon.
We took a ride around part of the island before returning to the park. It was a nice ride and we enjoyed the sights.

There is a house at the top of these rocks which you can barely see through all the trees. The colors alone are beautiful to me.

Once we returned to our campsite, Dean grilled cheeseburgers and I fixed some corn on the cob to go with it. A delicious dinner! Now we're just chilling, watching TV and resting. We have four full days here to enjoy the area and we intend to make the most of it. We loved our time here before, and I have no doubt we will love it this time around as well.
