Thursday, July 2, 2020 - Breakfast At Circle L; Packing Up in the Heat; Drive to Brett's; Cooling Down & Clouds Move In; Jameson Comes to Visit; Dinner Out

I didn't wake up until after 5:30 this morning.  I don't think I moved once after I fell asleep - at least I was in the same position when I woke up.  We were so tired.  I think we'll take the RV to Wichita for the next game.  I spent some time this morning making plans that would allow us to do just that.

After our morning coffee, Dean wanted to know if I'd like to go eat breakfast at Circle L here in Oswego.  Sure!  As always we see friends here, Carol & Jerry were already there, waiting on Betty & Dennis to join them.  As we left I stopped to visit with Glenda for a minute before we headed home.

We needed to take the car to leave at the garage while we are gone, so Dean went ahead, while I finished a few things at the RV before I followed him.  While we were there I brought a few things from the freezer back to the RV with me for meals while we are at Brett's over the weekend.  I went inside to start putting things away while he worked on storing things outside and emptying the tanks.  We had a bite to eat about 11:30.  Dean needed to go back to the garage to get something, so I sent some frozen fruit with him to put in the freezer that I had intended to take earlier.

While he was taking care of somet things outside I made a few more phone calls.  After this weekend, we reserved a week at Bernice State Park at Grand Lake O' The Cherokees near Grove, OK.  We love this area of the lake, as it is our old stomping grounds during our many years camping and boating.  We were fotunate enough to get a nice shaded spot, with a waterview, and only a short walk to the swimming area if we need to cool off.  It was a little pricier than I expected, but we decided to do it anyway.  The $2/day senior discount was nice but didn't put much of a dent in the daily rate - although we get one day "free" if we stay a week, so that helped!  After making several other calls, I went out to help him pack things up so we could leave.  Our neighbor was outside and we visited with him for a few minutes before finishing up and leaving the park.  He is part of the wind farm crew installing the big wind turbines in Neosho county.  He drives a truck that pull the blades from the Great Plains Industrial Park (formerly Army Ammunition Plant, north of us).

It was 1:40 when we left and 3:10 when we were set up at Brett's.  It was sooooo hot.  I was glad it didn't get too hot inside on the drive over.  We turned both AC's on to 72, along with a fan blowing air from upstairs to the downstairs, and another fan on the floor in the living area that blew the air towards us.  Within an hour or so it was very comfortable.  In fact I had to go move the thermostat up a degree in both rooms, and an hour later, I increased it another degree to keep us from being too cold.  In the meantime clouds started moving in and while we never had any rain, it sure helped in cooling things down inside.

On the way traffic was stopped with a Sheriff's officer sitting at an intersection blocking traffic.  We weren't sure what was going on at first but then:

We are stopped waiting to see what is going on ahead of us.

We should have guessed - and it was very interesting to watch!

Look at the size of that blade!

After Dean set up outside I was putting things in order inside.  Whenwe were finished, we moved to our chairs.  Dean has still been working with his new phone to get things set up the way he wants and he continued doing that for an hour or two.  I took care of a few more things on my list and it wasn't long before we had visitors.  Brett and Jameson came in to visit.  Only a short time later Mom, (Emilee) knocked on the door too.

After visiting awhile we decided to go to Chicken Mary's for dinner, now a favorite of Brett & Emilee's, after we got them to switch!  LOL!  We all ate light tonight, no onion rings.  It was cold inside and I had to have a cup of coffee to help warm me up.  Thank goodness Emilee came out with a jacket, which reminded me to have Dean bring my sweater before he locked the RV.  We were both glad we had them once we were inside the restaurant.  The food was delicious as usual.  Jameson was such a good little guy through our meal, only letting Dad know he was getting hungry shortly before we were done eating.

Afterwards, we took a drive through the countryside, visiting Prarie State Park, just a short distance away, then driving through Mulberry, KS and making a big loop around the area.  We love drives like this!

Beautiful sunset and dark clouds over the prairie grass in the Park.

Such pretty wildflowers.

After returning to Brett's we went inside to go over some things with them about what Jameson likes, etc.

Papa holding Jameson, with Dad Brett behind him.

We will sleep in the RV (we really like our bed), so we will bring Jameson out here at night, but we will spend most of our time inside their house during the day.  There will be much more room for him to move around and play there.

So, I'll leave you with this picture I took just outside the RV this evening before we went in for the night.
