Friday, July 3 I worked on the past two days blog posts until 10:30 last night, leaving them to proofread and add pictures this morning, while enjoying my coffee. I was up at 5:00 am, and at 6:53 they are now both posted.
Brett and Emilee are leaving for a long weekend get away around 9. I made our morning shakes, worked my daily freecell puzzle while enjoying my shake - and Dean watched the news. I wanted to make sure everything was done before going inside.
It's now 10:40 and so far so good. It's been awhile since we've taken care of a baby for more than a few hours at a time, but I bet we can handle it with Jameson being # 16 in the line of our grandchildren. It's been slightly over 21 years since our first grandson, Logan, arrived. That doesn't leave many gaps in between!
I had another list of things to do this morning. I realized I put the date we wanted to leave Bernice State Park as July 12th - it should have been the 13th. Via the confirmation email, it said we could make changes to our reservation after our credit card approved the payment. That happened last night, but it still would not permit me to add a day on their reservation page. I called the park this morning, where they made the change for me.
We plan to stay overnight in Wichita on July 16, so we can attend another game of Emerson's and hopefully can spend a little more time with Heath & family as well. I made our reservation at All-Seasons CG. They know us by name now. Lol!
The last item was to contact my lung doctor. I forgot to ask him some insurance questions. I had to leave a messge, hoping I would hear from them today; later realizing they were probably closed due to the 4th of July holiday. Hopefully, I'll hear from them Monday.
It's hard to believe tomorrow will be the 4th of July. Alot of changes in one year. Last year when we were here at Brett's. Matt, Megan and the kids were visiting. They had planned to be in Kansas by now. Unfortunately, plans change. We are all sad they were unable to make it this year, especially since they have come through their quarantine period with everyone doing fine. With a two day trip here, it would have cut several days our of their vacation time. Now that Josh is in school the travel times are pretty much limited through the summer, unless they want to come over Christmas break - but then you never know how the weather will be.

The change in our country as a whole since last 4th of July is heartbreaking. My heart hurts. In fact I took Facebook off of my phone. I can't believe how hateful and nasty people can be in the posts. Yes, I just go past them, but I needed a break from it all. I do have it on my computer, in order to keep "Travels with Bentley" posted to Facebook, since many people follow it there. Occasionally I will pull up our kids to see pictures, but honestly I have not missed it except for family and friends posts.
Happy boy!
Jameson has been quite the little guy today. He's been a very good little boy, especially when you consider we don't seem him that often. He enjoys sleeping in the chair with Papa, laying in the crook of his arm. He also enjoys laying on his play mat, and loves being in his bouncer. He seems to enjoy them both, and can play for quite awhile. Eat, play, sleep - what a life! LOL! He has quite a bit of energy. Right now I'm thankful he's only 6 months old and he can't crawl or walk yet. Next time we watch him, we may easily see an increase in our steps trying to keep up with him. Good exercise, right?

We made it through the first day just fine. Feeding a 6 month old baby food is a trick though since it's been awhile we've had to do that, but it comes back to you. He likes his carrots!
I'm curious, how many of my fellow bloggers are using the new Blogger platform. I'm using it right now, but I've not been able to figure out how to add notations under pictures like the old blogger did. I made it work by changing the font size, then hitting the indention button to get it as centered as I can, but it is more key strokes than before.
The pictures above do not really need any explanation....he's just one happy guy!
Later, we went to the RV to fix and eat dinner. Dean grilled some chicken breats wrapped in bacon with seasoning. They were delicious. He put the awning out to provide shade. When he came in for a minute, I went outside to take some pictures of the skies, when he told me it looked like it might rain.
According to the weather channel we are not in a direct line of major weather.
While Dean was grilling the chicken, I was preparing baked potatoes and broccoli/cauliflower to go with it. We were just finished eating when I heard the wind come up. I ran to the door and the awning was bouncing around. He grabbed the remote and brought it in. We were concerned about the awning, since we had to put it in while it was bouncing around so bad.
We decided to go back to the house, and made it inside before the sky opened up. It didn't rain long, but we are glad we only had a few heavy drops before we made it to the porch.
Looking out the front door as it rained - less than 10 minutes.
Dean had already taken the small bed (bassinet) out to the RV earlier, so we gathered up the things we would need overnight (diapers, formula and a bottle). When we could see Jameson was getting tired we headed back to the RV. We stayed there because our bed is so comfortable, it's easy to make our shakes each morning, and we don't have to haul our stuff inside. It worked very well for us. (When we checked the awning later it was fine - what a relief...I've never seen it blow up in the air like it did, then bounce back down.)
Saturday, July 4 Jamison woke in the night but after changing him and giving him a small bottle of formula, he went back to sleep and so did Nana.
He woke up this morning just as happy as could be. He cried when he was tired or hungry, the rest of the time he was happy. You can't ask for much more than that!
NOTICE: Picture overload!!
Having fun with Nana and Papa.
Later in the day, we decided to take a drive. I needed a few things from the grocery store, so we just made an afternoon of it. Jameson took his nap during the drive, so it worked out quite well for all of us.
Driving down a country road towards Lamar, we ran across a sign that said, RIVER ACCESS. We had just crossed the bridge, so we turned down the road to check it out. I'm glad we did. We found this little dam/waterfall. Such a pretty little place. A family was there fishing along the bank. Further upstream, there was a road leading to a boat ramp where a truck/boat trailer was parked.
We enjoyed our drive around and through Lamar. We drove south, then turned back west. We ran into I-49, so we headed back north and found this RV Park sign. Of course, we had to drive in to look it over. They had a number of RV sites available with full hookups. We are fortunate we can park our RV at Brett's house. We have electric and water, but no sewer. If we ever want to spend an extended time here, this would be an option.
Dean dropped me off at the door to Walmart. I gathered up what we needed, paid and we were on our way back to Brett's. Jameson slept almost the entire time.
Last Jameson picture during this visit!
Later we decided to try the new pizza place in Lamar - Mother Tucker's. We ordered the Meaty Momma - pepperoni, beef, sausage, Canadian bacon, and bacon. I called in the order and Dean picked it up. It was very good! There were only 2 of 8 slices left when we finished. Yum! We look forward to trying it out again someday.
We had another rainstorm come through this evening - it didn't last any longer than the one the night before - just enough to make a little mud hole in front of Bentley, which only required a few extra steps to go around it. Speaking of steps.....taking care of a baby will get your miles in without walking in the park! I barely missed 12,000 steps Friday, and made it on Saturday. I might not have been moving as fast, but I kept busy, which is fine by me.

Today was a pretty quiet day. We had more play time and I wasn't on picture overload. Brett and Emilee will be back later today. We decided to fix dinner for them. It was mid-afternoon or so when they returned. We visited for awhile, then we headed to Bentley so they could spend some one on one time with Jameson. We told them we'd eat about 5:30. Dean grilled hamburgers and brauts. I made loaded deviled eggs and baked beans for sides. They walked over, shortly before everything was ready. We had a nice visit and enjoyed our last evening with Jameson, who was just as happy as can be with Mom and Dad back in his life.
We've enjoyed our time here. Tomorrow we will raise the jacks and move to Bernice, Oklahoma for a week.
