Wednesday, May 13, 2020 - Walk, Work and Wonderful!

Wednesday, May 13, 2020 - Walk, Work and Wonderful!

It was 4:30 when I woke this morning.  I do like my early morning wakeups!  After going through my early morning routine, and putting the last load of clothes in the washer, I poured my first cup of coffee, read my devotional then caught up with the blogs I follow.  When the washer stopped, I was able to partially dry the clothes, then hang them in the shower to finish drying.

At 6:45 we changed in to our "walking clothes" and headed to the park.  It was 50F when I woke this morning.  It had rained in the night and early morning, but the rain stopped sometime after I was up.

As we drove toward the park I took a couple of pictures of the park entrance.

Welcome to Riverside Park

These stone pillars either side of the road were built at the same time of the shelter houses being constructed.  Several years ago the Oswego Parks & Community Foundation chose a fundraiser to put new lighting in the park.  It was discovered that one of the old lights that used to be on top of the swimming pool, was owned by a resident.  Members of the Foundation talked to some lighting companies and found a light that was almost identical to the old light.  Funds were raised through donations to put the new lighting around the Community Center, leading into the park and within the park.  It was a large undertaking.  Fortunately at the same time, the city obtained a grant that provided the opportunity to install underground electric in the park, so it was a major improvement to the beauty of our park.

It was overcast and damp in the park, but it was a nice two mile walk all by ourselves.  No one else had ventured out this morning.  There was no wind to speak of.

Upon our return, we had our breakfast, I washed, dried and put away the dishes, then got to work.

I had a busy day ahead of me.  I had some paperwork to take care of first of all and within a couple of hours that was completed.  Dean left to have our propane tanks filled - they should last us for several months now, or at least I hope we don't have to use it much!  It was nearly time for lunch, so knowing Dean would show up in a few minutes I started getting things out of the refrigerator.  He showed up almost on the dot of noon!  We had our lunch and visited before he left an hour or so later for the garage.

For me, it was cleaning time again.  One thing I wanted to do was clean the drawers out inside of my side of the closet.  I organize them and the next thing I know they have turned into a mess again.  Part of that is my own fault for leaving things in there I do not use often, so I fixed that this morning, moving things I rarely use to the very bottom drawer.  Hopefully this works.  We have a small area either side of the bed where I have placed small baskets to hold things.  I keep lotion, a small flashlight, eye glass cleaner, eye drops, chapstick, etc. in my side and Dean keeps his own lotion and sunscreen in his.  The baskets have a tendency to get messy after awhile as well, so I like to straighten them every so often.

As we were returning to Oswego in March, I had to pull more winter clothes out from under the bed.  One of the things on my list was to go through our closet and remove most of our heavier winter clothing.  I moved those back to a spot under the bed.  I love the storage we have there.  I kept a few things out though as you never know what the weather is going to do!

Next on my list was dust and vaccum.   While these were already on my list to do today, I also wanted things to look a "little nicer" as we are having company this evening.  Our granddaughter Dacy and grandson Tucker are coming over to have dinner with us and visit for awhile.  We haven't seen Dacy since we left in January, and we've only seen Tucker once a few weeks ago.

I decided we might need a "dessert", so I made some brownies and left them to cool while I showered.  Dean returned a little before 5, so he could shower before they arrived.  There is room at our site for us to park both the truck and the car - one on each end of the RV.  I sent Todd a text to see if we could park the truck on an empty site just west of us for a few hours while they were here.  He said sure.  It wasn't long and we saw Dacy coming down the road.  I stepped out of the RV to be sure she knew this was our site.

We had such a great evening with them.  We told them they had a choice we could order pizza or Mexican food.  They selected Mexican.  I pulled up Mi Pueblo's online menu for them to look over.  After everyone had made a choice I called the order in.  We could pick it up in 20 minutes.  That time went by so quickly with all of the chattering we did.  Dacy went with me to pick it up.  We had such a nice visit.  I love our desk and the table Dean built for us.  It gives us so much more room.  Now I can easily move my laptop from the table to the cabinet, so we can easily make use of the table area for meals. Our table was so small we didn't have that luxury before.  The printer took up half of it.

I pulled the table out, so D & T could set at the table, one on the far right side, and one at the end of the table (allowing us all to visit while we ate) and Dean and I added the wood work tables to our chairs, so we could eat our meal there.  It worked out well.

We visited for quite awhile during and after dinner, then I offered brownies.  We were all pretty full, but they ate one and I sent some home with them too.

We wanted to take Dacy to the lot as she has not been there, or at least since we've made all of the improvements.  I told her when I took Kamron down there the other day she saw a few of the "toys" they used to play with and was so happy I had kept some of them.  Like the wagon we bought Logan when he was just a little guy (he'll be 21 this month), and the old Fisher Price toy farms that were Misti's when she was just a toddler - I won't mention how old they are.  I love the idea that someday maybe our great grandchildren will enjoy them as well, but for now we still have a lot of small grandchildren who might have a good time with them when our lives get back to some type of normal again.  Notice I said when and not if!

It was 7:30 before they left for home.  It was a good time and there was so much to talk about.  We haven't seen Dacy since shortly after Jameson was born - back in early January, and only one visit with Tucker a few weeks ago there was plenty to catch up on.  Dacy's High School graduation has been rescheduled for June.  We are waiting to hear when Haleigh's will be scheduled, but we know they are in the process of selecting a day.

It was a busy day, but also a very good day!  We are so thankful for all of our grandchildren.  Each one is special in their own way and we love them all very much.  (We are really missing our Wichita and New York grands alot!)

  1. Hi Sheri. Sounds like a catchup on cleaning day and then a nice visit to end it off. Yum Mexican food. :)
We are questioning the layout of your trailer and are disagreeing. I think we sat at the back on a couch and your chairs were on the long wall opposite the door. I am guessing your desk is next to that? But if so where is your table? Hmm. Funny how we forget. I like the tables on your chairs but do they fold down? Our chairs are wider than yours so we are missing the theatre seating for our cups.
This weather is awesome and I'm hoping we won't need the winter clothes for a while!

    1. You are correct - the couch was at the back, our recliner chairs were just to your left along the wall. Our desk/table was further down past the chairs. It's very similar to yours - the table was probably pushed as far in as it goes. Our two dining chairs were either side of the table portion.
It is 77F here (inside and outside) as I write this at 6:45pm. I've had the AC on since this morning. The sun hits the back window and the side with the most windows by 11am. The sun hits the larger side windows until 6-7 now that the sun is staying up longer. Once it hits the 80's we'll probably put the reflective material back in the windows, otherwise it gets pretty miserable in here. This is when I wish we were at our lot, where we have lots of shade - and we would enjoy sitting outside. Our yard is very small here.
I turned the bedroom AC on this morning at 9:30 before we left for a Dr. appointment, with a fan to push the air downstairs. It's 77 inside and we are comfortable enough. The AC downstairs is so loud we hate to turn it on unless we need to.
