Tuesday, January 29, 2019 - Dean to Pharr; Bible Study; Work on Summer/Fall Trip; Pizza Night

Tuesday, January 29, 2019 - Dean to Pharr; Bible Study; Work on Summer/Fall Trip; Pizza Night

I had just poured my first cup of coffee when I saw the bedroom lights go on and heard Dean moving around upstairs - at 5:30.  He never gets up this early so I wondered what was going on, then I remembered he has to leave here around 7:00.  He is taking the truck to Pharr, TX to have four new back tires put on the truck.  We had the front tires replaced while we were in Ohio last fall.

While he was gone I got a few things done around Bentley before heading to the clubhouse for the weekly Bible Study here.  Kim does an excellent job and I've really enjoyed each weekly meeting.  I've met several people here and that has been great too.  I'm finally beginning to put names with faces.

I spent some time working on our summer/early fall trip.  I was getting pretty discouraged in trying to figure out what there is to do in the areas we planned to visit.  It occurred to me I needed to google blogs with trips to Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.  Sure enough I found exactly what I wanted.  Now to read through them and determine what are priorities for us to visit, see, etc.

At 12:45 I walked to Nancy's.  Flora and Debbie walked over and the four of us went to "The Tea Room" for lunch.  Last year we went to the location of the old Tea Room, but it was being managed by someone else.  Flora found the original card in her business card file, called the old number and found where they relocated to.  The food was really good.  I ordered chicken salad in half of an avocado.  It was great and I'm going to try that myself.  It came with fruit and chips too.  The other ladies all bought cake to take home but I did not, although it was really hard not to get some for Dean and I too.

I visited with Flora for a little while before walking back home.  I picked up on the summer/early fall trip planning and spent the rest of the afternoon doing that.

Earlier in the day, I had sent a text to Jack to see if he and Lynette wanted to go eat pizza tonight.  They weren't home at the time, and by 4-4:30 we had not heard from them so we were trying to decide if we wanted to go or not, when I got a text from him a little before 5.  He had just seen my text.  He was buying groceries, but said if we could bring Lynette to the pizza place he would meet us there.   I called Lynette and told her the plan, and soon the three of us headed out and we met him at Brick House Pizza.

The sun hitting the leaves in these palm trees looked like icicles.  Very pretty.

They had a different twist on ordering pizzas and salads.  The ingredients were in front of you, similar to Subway.  As you went through the line you determined what type of crust you wanted, what type of sauce, and then chose from the various meats, cheese and vegetables for your toppings, or what type lettuce and vegetables you wanted for your salad.  The price was the same for all pizzas no matter the number of toppings.  They were all 10" in size but it was plenty of food for Dean and I.  I tried all kinds of toppings and other than being really salty it was very good.  I don't really care for a lot of salt so it will probably not be a place we will go often but once a year might not be too bad.  It was good enough to return.

After a full day, we chilled in front of the TV before calling it a night.
