Saturday, February 23, 2019 - Last Full Day at Val's; Chores Galore; Friends Stop By

Saturday, February 23, 2019 - Last Full Day at Val's; Chores Galore; Friends Stop By

I was up shortly before 5:30 this morning.  There's a lot we need to do today in preparation for our depart from Val's and Mission, TX tomorrow.  The time has gone by so quickly.  We are going to miss our friends both old and new, but we look forward to returning January 1, 2020.

I immediately put a load of laundry in the washer - I have several loads to do today so I want to keep it going.  After doing my exercises, I enjoyed a cup of coffee while reading my Bible.  I enjoy starting my day like this.

After our walk, I started putting things away that we would not need today, putting away pots and pans with cushioning between them, etc. to make sure everything rides nicely when we leave tomorrow.

Dean went out to wash the truck while I continued working inside.  We stopped and ate a wrap for lunch around 11:30, and I kept the washing machine going a good part of the day.  We had the portable clothes line outside.  For the first several hours the wind was not blowing and the humidity must have been somewhat high.  I didn't think anything would ever dry.  A little before noon, the wind finally picked up a bit and we had to bring the clothes inside and hang them in the shower to finish drying.  I turned my little fan on, that tilts up, and they will dry pretty quickly.

About 1pm Dennis and Pam stopped by to visit for awhile.  We always enjoy spending time with these two - and today we discussed some of their travels - several were places we still hope to visit.  Hopefully, we will see them in Oklahoma when they visit Pam's sister.

Dean wanted to take a ride around the park on the bicycles.  He finally found the part he was looking for that raised his handlebars.  He is much happier with it now, and we made one full lap.  Mine rode fine, except my back brake is not working at all, so he will need to take a look at it and see what is going on.  Hopefully, we'll use them more now.  He got the bicycle rack added to the ladder on the back of Bentley and both bicycles hung before we left to get fuel for the truck and make a quick Walmart stop for a few things we needed.

Back home, we ate leftovers from Casa de Marisco, which were still very good.  Shortly after we finished there was a knock on the door.  It was Jack and Lynette to tell us goodbye since they weren't sure what time we would be leaving tomorrow.  We had a nice visit with them and sure appreciated them taking the time to stop by.  While we had planned to take a walk around the park, we found ourselves staying busy doing this or that - then thinking of something else we needed to do.  We hope to leave here by 9 or so, but we'll see.

Dean was watching a show, so I pulled out my Chromebook to start this blog post.  I'd sure like to try and keep it up to date from this point.  Finally, the last load of clothes finished drying.

A little while later we had another knock on the door and our neighbors Larry and Carolyn stopped by to tell us goodbye.  They were not sure what time we would leave tomorrow and didn't want to miss us.   That was very nice of them.  They have been wonderful neighbors, and they were so welcoming and nice to us last year when we arrived.  We really appreciate their kindness.

I don't know why I didn't think to take pictures of our visitors when they were here.  So here are a few pictures of Bentley in our site at Val's.

Taken from the street.  We have a lot of concrete area which is nice.

Taken from the back of the lot.

All in all it has been a great day.  We had planned to get over to see Steve and Diane before we left.  I hope we get to see them before we leave tomorrow.

I am looking forward to seeing my best friend from school tomorrow.  She moved to Portland, TX last year so it means I'll at least get to see her once a year (if not more) while we are here for the winter months.  Since her mom and brother live in Oswego, I also have the opportunity to see her there once in awhile, if we are in the area.
