August 11, 2021 - Happy 16th Birthday Kamron; Beautiful Drive to Coalville, UT

August 11, 2021 - Happy 16th Birthday Kamron; Beautiful Drive to Coalville, UT

First thing this morning was to send a text message to our granddaughter Kamron wishing her happiness on her special day.  I cannot believe she is 16 years old today.  Time has gone by so quickly.  Wishing you much happiness today and everyday sweetheart.

Dean was downstairs having his first cup of coffee when I woke up this morning.  It was already 6:30am.  I guess I needed that extra hour!  By 7:30 we were having our shake and then preparing to move Bentley from Idaho to Utah today.

It was 9:56am when we left Bannock County Fairgrounds in Pocatello, as we made our way south.  The scenery along the way was gorgeous.  We enjoyed the beauty of the farmland, with the mountains as the backdrop to the bright green fields and grasslands.

We pulled into a rest stop at the north side of Utah a few minutes before noon, where I noticed this Welcome to Utah Sign.  I had to wait quite awhile to take this picture.  Several cars had stopped and a number of young people were lined up waiting to have their picture taken in front of it.

We soon headed were headed back south on I-15.  I believe I must have slept part of the time because the next thing I new we were getting pretty close to our next destination.  The mountains were so pretty as we drove through them.

You all know how I love to see our US Flag flying.  I wish we had been just a bit closer!

We arrived at our site at 1:33pm.  There was a Phillips 66 and a Best Western Hotel next door.  We had to check-in at the convenience store at Phillips 66.  As we pulled in I told Dean look that trailer is from Oklahoma.
The One Arm Bandit & Co from Shidler, OK

As we drove around the backside of the hotel (our way to arrive at the RV site) we saw John Payne's (One Arm Bandit) truck parked in the back.  It was sitting under a big shade tree so I could not get a good picture of it.  It has large horns on the back of it.

About that time a park worker pulled up in front of us as he had been waiting for us to come around the building, then he led us to our site.  It's an interesting layout here with curved concrete pads.  I'll try to remember to take a picture of them tomorrow so I can show you.  We have full hookups with 50amp service.  It seemed a bit tight for us but Dean did a great job of getting Bentley in that curve pretty good.  Even though the temperature was 86 it didn't feel overly warm.  It's so nice without the humidity we have back home.

While Dean set things up outside I was inside putting the slides out and getting things in place.  We rested for awhile, then left so the air conditioner could cool things down a bit, and now we could check out Coalville and the neighboring areas.

We headed toward downtown Coalville first, where we saw their Welcome to Coalville Sign.

Welcome Sign to Coalville, UT

Dean wanted to drive to nearby Echo Reservoir

Beautiful rock formations along the way

I took this picture, then saw the sign.  It is called "The Witch's"

Historic Union Pacific Rail Trail

The Reservoir is very, very low.  It is a pretty area and many people were there swimming, paddle boarding or canoeing.

Summit County Courthouse

We are staying in Coalville for two nights.  Tomorrow we plan to drive back to Salt Lake City to see a few sights we are interested in and try to find a Sam's Club.  I'm running out of a few things I like to purchase there.

Upon returning to Bentley, we relaxed and watched Wheel of Fortune.  Before it was over I started dinner.  We had left over roast so tonight we made hash, cut up roast and small fried pieces of potatoes cooked together.  We always have it with pork and beans.  It is one of our favorite meals, and it was very good.

Dean has been watching a movie and I worked on the blog, as I want to finish this post before calling it a night.  The last few posts have been long, so I want to begin posting daily if I can.

You are so right....it seems only a few years ago she was born and now she's 16. How does it go so fast?
