Sunday, August 15, 2012 - Laundry Day and Another Wonderful Countryside Ride
We decided to stay at Bentley this morning. I needed to do some laundry before we leave tomorrow, plus I had other things I needed to do in the RV as well. There is always cleaning issues and such just like in a stick & bricks house. We had a light lunch, and then set out on another drive our neighbors told us about.
What a beautiful and amazing drive this was. I wish you could have rode along with us because the pictures cannot begin to show the beauty of this road trip.
We started out across the road, a little further south from our campground. Our drive took us approximately 2 hours. At times it was tedious on narrow, tight turns, but it was worth it. I just wish these pictures provided more of the beauty than I could get in these small frames.

| Near our starting point. |
 |
| While the roads were paved, they have been heavily used, so it was a bumpy experience at times. |

| From dry, arid ground |

| to green, cool temperatures. |
 |
| Beautiful vistas. |

| This is a panoramic view of a large parking area near the top of the mountains in the background. |
Shortly before we arrived at the parking area above, we came upon a car stopped in the middle of the road because there were a number of cows in the road. It was apparent the couple in it didn't know what to do, so Dean went around them and slowly moved toward the cows to get them to move out of the road. A short time after we arrived at the top, the couple pulled up. The woman, said thank you for the cow situation, we didn't have any idea what to do. Dean told them he grew up on a farm. We wondered how long they had been setting there before we showed up.

| This mountain was just gorgeous. I wish I'd had a better camera for these photos. |
We began the descent shortly afterwards,
In the pictures below, we later discovered, we were driving behind Arches National Park.
The La Sal Mountain Road ended, at Highway 128 back to Highway 191 through Moab. Highway 128 is the same road we drove earlier this week along the Colorado River.
The last evening picture taken from our site at Moab Rim Campark. We've thoroughly enjoyed our time here. We'd love to visit again when the temperatures are not quite so high. Tomorrow we move on to Pagosa Springs, Co for one night.
What a beautiful drive, keeping this for the next time we are there. We just love that area! Oh Pagosa Springs, another favorite! Years ago we stayed at the Blue Spruce Ranch a campground/cabins. Their cabins were old with fireplaces and leaning walls. We loved it! Enjoy the ride!
ReplyDeleteThank you, the scenery was way better than my pictures, so I encourage you to drive it for sure!
