Friday, August 13, 2021 - A Long Day's Drive to Moab, UT

Friday, August 13, 2021 - Drive to Moab, UT

It was shortly after 5 when I woke up.  I knew I had much to do before we left this morning, so I crawled out of bed and made the coffee.  We wanted to leave early this morning as it is a long drive.  It was 9:30am when we left Holiday Hills RV Park in Coalville, UT.

The drive was quite long but we enjoyed the scenery along the way. This picture was taken upstream from Rockport Reservoir near Wanship, UT.  It was nice to see such lush colors of green, and this beautiful waterway running alongside of the highway.

As I noticed this beautiful building, I commented to Dean, that is such a pretty church.  After I took the picture, I noticed the writing on the sign - it was actually the Heber City Offices.

A few random pictures of scenery we enjoyed along the way.

Along Provo Canyon Road - the mountains were gorgeous.

This was such a pretty area.

We begin to transition into this rocky dessert like area with large mountains.  It was an amazing area.  Even though there wasn't much color it was awesome.

We stopped here for a break.  We had nice roads in a vast area of scrub brush and rocks, at Horse Canyon View Area.

This was a long, lonely highway before we finally arrived at Moab.

We arrived at 1:33 pm at Moab Rim Campark, for the next three days. The park owner was very friendly and visited with us a bit after we checked in.  They had a number of pamphlets available if we were interested.  We picked up a booklet of restaurants that included their menus.  What a great idea.  We felt very fortunate to have a front row site with a beautiful view of the mountains.  Our park was located at the south end of Moab.  While we drove through town on our way in, we were busy watching for traffic while pulling the RV, so after we had rested a bit from the drive, we headed into town to check it out.  We were both getting hungry after our light lunch on the road today.  We decided Italian sounded good, and the restaurant booklet provided us some options.  We originally picked out one place, but it appeared to be pretty busy, so we moved on down the main street and saw Pasta Jay's.  I was afraid it might be too busy, but fortunately we were seated right away.  We must have hit it right, because it was nearly full when we left.  We were both very happy with our meals.  I chose Manicotti and Dean had chicken alfredo.

The chicken was lightly breaded and very tender.  The sauce was wonderful.

The manicotti was just as good.

We both took half of our food home with us - we'll have it for dinner tomorrow. night!  After dinner, we took a drive around town and stopped at the grocery store for a few things.

Dean found a road he wanted to drive on in the mountains near our campground.  The sun hitting the mountains provided a beautiful evening sight.

There were several turkeys hanging out at this house.

I thought this tree with the mountains was pretty.  I had to take it out Dean's window but I loved the way the colors showed up in the picture.  It's one of those pictures that looks like a painting to me.

The mountains we get to see every day while we are here - this is across the highway from our campsite.
