Wednesday, March 10, 2021 - High Winds, Another Busy Day, Ending the Evening on a High Note
My sleeping habits returned this morning. I was awake at 4:45, and I could tell the wind was still blowing, but it did not seem too bad upstairs. As I reached the bottom of the stairs, I could feel the RV shaking with these strong winds. It rattled all morning long. I intended to take pictures of the small lake behind us later in the day when I got out - I had noticed the white caps on it from inside, but I forgot to do that. I was just trying to get out the door without it hitting the RV, then trying to get in the car before it blew me away....haha! By the time I returned home, I didn't even think about it.
I had planned to do some laundry as soon as I got up, but then I remembered Dean had shut the water off outside. We are using the pump to use water from our tank. Our toilet has been leaking water into the bowl. We keep an eye on it when we are here, and since we are on sewer, we aren't quite as concerned since it's not leaking into our black tank. At night we turn the water off, and use the pump. We do not want the toilet bowl to run over while we are asleep. I'm not sure if it would - but we aren't taking any chances. We turn the pump off when we go to bed, so if you get up in the night, you have to go downstairs, turn the pump on, go back upstairs to the bathroom, then turn the pump off again before going back to bed. Sometimes that event can wake me up enough it's hard to fall asleep again.
Dean has taken things apart, worked on it and even though he repaired the same problem about a year and a half ago, he cannot get it to quit leaking. I've hated the toilet since we purchased it, when I realized how difficult it was to clean underneath the seat. The seat is so cheaply made. The original toilet had a nice lid, that was easy to clean and was sturdy - it might have been wood - it certainly felt like it compared to this flimsy piece of plastic we have now. We have looked high and low for a new seat but could not find anything to replace it due to the size and fittings on this toilet.
Now we've made the decision to replace the toilet. Dean did some research on repairs and he needs to replace the base and the water valve, which is about 1/2 the price of a new toilet. We are at the point we'd rather just replace it than take the chance of having another problem in a few months, or a year....plus I'd still have that same old toilet seat that I do not like at all.
I tell you all of this now, because I waited until Dean got up so he could go out and turn the water on, before I started laundry this morning. I could run the pump to do laundry, but it is pretty annoying to listen to the pump while it's filling the washer, and the sound is pretty loud near the shower, which is just the other side of Dean while he's sleeping. I didn't want to wake him up. Also, I'm a wimp, I was not going out in the wind trying to keep the door from flying out of my hand in the dark. We both hope we find a solution to this and get it fixed the way it needs to be and soon. He's a jewel, and he headed outside not long after he was up, so I could get laundry started.
When I was at Walmart yesterday (Tuesday) one of the main things I intended to get was the protein powder we use for our morning shakes. I forgot to get it, and we were out of the powder this morning. So what to fix for breakfast? Breakfast sandwiches. Dean had two sausage, egg and cheese on small hamburger buns. I had bacon rather than sausage and they turned out pretty well. I'm afraid he might want them more often. LOL!
His right hip/leg has been bothering him for several weeks. He decided when we returned to Kansas he was going to the chiropractor. This morning he called to make an appointment and was able to get in to see Dr. Frisebee at 9:30. He told me he felt a little better and I think tomorrow he will probably notice less discomfort as well.
He is such a good husband, and when I mentioned while we were eating lunch that I needed to stop to put gas in my car, he smiled and said, you don't have to. He knew I needed it and took my car this morning, then stopped to fill it up. He's a keeper!!
I made chicken salad for our lunch today. Listening to one of the food shows on Facebook, Mama Sue said she used a little bit of smoked paprika in hers. I tried it and I liked it. I sliced 1/2 an avocado for each of us, then added it and the chicken salad on a low carb wrap. They were delicious.
I managed to get two more loads of laundry done, before I left. My cousin Barbara called to let me know they moved her doctor appointment from 1:30 to 3:30, but she needs to arrive 15 minutes early. I left the RV park about 1:50. Cindy called as I was leaving. She left her cup in my car yesterday. She set it in the holder behind us in the car, and then forgot it. I told her I would run by and drop it off, asking her to watch for me. She must have seen me coming, because she was outside as I drove up the drive.
I wanted to visit with Aunt Betty, Barbara's mom for a little bit before we left, so I arrived about 15 minutes early. Barbara and I enjoyed visiting on the drive to Galena, while we were waiting at the clinic and again on the way home. I think the doctor really helped her today. She has a very badly torn hamstring that has caused her horrible spasms. She had no pain after the shots they gave her or on the way home. I'm anxious to see how she is doing today (Thursday).
After dropping her off at her home, I stopped at G&W to get a few groceries. I pulled up next to my niece, Nikki. I thought she was already inside, but when I looked up, she was just getting out of her car. We visited for a bit before going inside to do our shopping. I always enjoy getting to spend a little time with her. It didn't take me long to gather up what I needed, and I was soon on my way to Bentley.
After putting the groceries away, I made spaghetti for dinner. Yes it was from a jar, but it tasted great.
Last night I read this over and over. I was so tired I just felt like it made no sense and I'm glad I waited until this morning to review it. I made quite a few changes; and best of all, about 9:45 Logan called us. It was so great to hear from him. Gosh, I miss him. I can only imagine how Mom and Dad feel, if I miss him that much. I went from a tired, worn out Nana, to a happy, wide awake Nana as soon as I saw his name show up on my phone. Amazing what a simple call from a child or grandchild can do to bring happiness to a parent or grandparent's life!
Thanks for following along. I appreciate each of you and love hearing from you. Thank you for your comments.
My Cheri, your memory is getting as bad as mine😄 Getting up before the sun is not something I do. Probably could get more done, but that's what tomorrow is for. Leaving the city water on and placing something down in the toilet to keep it from filling might be a temporary solution. As you know I have a leak problem too but at the release valve. Hope Dean's hip feels better soon.
ReplyDeleteDoug, it's like after I quit working my mind did too. In a way it was nice to know I didn't have to worry or fret about all the different things I had to do every day, but I'd like to keep a bit of sense about me. LOL! I had a list but I didn't check it before we left the store, so it was my fault!! We bought a new toilet today and Dean will have it installed tomorrow I am sure. It's 4pm and we just returned from Joplin, MO so it can wait until tomorrow - what's another night, right?
