Wednesday, March 17, 2021 - Happy St. Patrick's Day ---Whoops, I forgot to wear my Green; Change in Travel Plans for the Weekend; Quick Trip to Joplin--What Printer to Buy?; Visit with Stepdad & Verna; Rain, Rain & More Rain

Well, Happy St. Patrick's Day to all of you - I didn't think about it at all until we were on our way to Joplin, so I didn't wear green.  In fact I'm not sure I even have anything green.  I'm so glad I'm not back in school, when you would get pinched if you weren't wearing something green.  Some of the boys could pinch pretty hard too.  Lol!

The weather forecasts for this weekend are changing our travel plans.  Our original plans were to leave Oswego Thursday morning at 9 and stay in Wichita until Monday morning.  However, weather has changed our minds.  We will now drive out Friday morning.  Thursday's forecast is calling for strong winds NNW.  We would prefer not to drive in that, when much of 400 Highway is along large open areas, and we will be pulling the RV.  Monday's forecast for Wichita is rain - up to 80% chance with possible higher wind gusts.  Friday and Saturday forecasts are good, so we will arrive around noon on Friday and leave Sunday morning.

You might remember in yesterday's post I mentioned our printer quit working.  I spent time yesterday evening and early this morning researching issues that might be causing it.  Apparently our printer no longer works with our Chromebooks.  Dean's was not compatible with it when we bought it.  I've had my Chromebook for at least 2, maybe 3 years and it has worked fine, but March 16 it no longer works.  It says the printer is out of color ink.  I put a brand new cartridge in and it still will not work.  We've had it for over six years, and it has served us well, so maybe it's time to move on.  Since we needed to go to Sam's in Joplin, we also made stops at Office Depot and Best Buy to look at printers.  After talking to one of the salesmen at Best Buy we might be better off ordering what we want online.  None of the stores have one that best fits our needs. I think we have decided on what printer we want, so while we are in Wichita, we will check a couple of places to see if we can buy it there.  If not, we'll order it when we return to Oswego.

We made a stop at Sam's to collect our "rewards" from using our Sam's card to purchase fuel, gas and a few food products in 2020.  It's been a good savings for us over the years.  We had a quick meal at Steak & Shake, one of Dean's favorite places.  Their burgers and fries are really good, and so is the sweet tea.  I wanted to stop to see my step-dad Larry, and his wife Verna.  We haven't seen them since the first of the year.  We had a great visit - we always do.  Time seems to just fly by.

On our way back to Oswego, I told Dean if we used our Sonic app to place an order, we could purchase Sonic Blasts for 1/2 price.  He was all for that.  I placed our order and set a time for us to arrive at 3:35.  We arrived on the dot.  I guess they wait for you to arrive before they make it, since they did not have it ready at our allotted time.  LOL!  I chose the Reese's peanut butter cup and Dean got the Snickers candy bar.  I can tell you if it had not been for the 1/2 price we never would have bought one.  Almost 6$ for just 1!!!  They were worth 2 blasts for $6, but not $12.

We barely made it in the door of Bentley when the first rain drops started.  It was 4pm when we arrived, and it continued until a little after 9pm.

I still have a list of things to do tomorrow, plus I'll do as much prep for our move as I can, so we can leave by 8:30am Friday, planning to arrive at the RV Park by noon.  We are looking forward to spending the afternoon/evening with Abram, Gideon and Roman.  Saturday evening we will attend Emerson's 6th birthday party.  It will be another fun weekend with our Wichita grandchildren.  Next week we hope to spend some time with the southeast Kansas grandchildren over their spring breaks.

  1. Always love grandchildren time! Even though it's such a strange year, it's certainly flying to think of spring break already! Ken has a chromebook, never tried to see if it would print from our printer. Amazing how it works one day and the next it won't. Good luck with getting the new one. Haven't been to a Sonic in years, but those prices are enough to keep me away :)

    1. It doesn't seem like "Spring Break" weather, but we'll make the best of it. Lol! I print so many things, so really need a printer. Dean reminded me my computer had an update, so we are wondering if that's what caused this problem.

  3. Are you talking about Colaw RV Sale. It's quite a place. If you happen to stop in that area over night let us know. We're less than an hour from there.
