Tuesday, March 9, 2021 - Slow Start to the Morning; Kitchen Sink Issues; Sister and Grandkid Visits
I was surprised to see what time it was when I woke. It was almost 6:30 and Dean was already up and the coffee was ready. I felt well rested at least, and the coffee sure tasted good. Dean was probably wondering about me, as it's seldom he gets up before I do.
After our coffee, I got up to make our shakes. I keep the containers we mix them in, under the sink on the top shelf. I have a hand soap on the counter by the kitchen sink. I forgot to take it out from under the counter yesterday. When I reached down to get it this morning, I found the hand soap had spilled on the top shelf and was on my shake containers. I pulled everything on that shelf out. I keep the slip proof shelf liner on all of my cabinets, so I had to wash it and leave it out to dry, as well as the two shake containers. Finally, after all of that, we were able to have our morning shakes. It just so happens, Dean is going to work on the cold water under the kitchen sink this morning, so after enjoying our morning shakes, I went ahead and emptied the bottom cabinet as well. The entire area got a good cleaning this morning. It never hurts to do that occasionally anyway.
We have a water softener on our water system. When we had the ice and snow a couple of weeks or so ago in Texas, Dean unhooked the softener for fear it would freeze. Evidently some gunk must have broke loose somewhere and blocked all but a slight trickle from the cold water line. Dean had already checked everything else, inside and out. After he worked on it, it was just what he thought. After cleaning that up, we now have both hot and cold water at the kitchen sink. I decided it was a good time to pull out the vacuum and go over the floors and carpets since it had been awhile since I last did that chore.
Once the water situation was done, I started the first of many loads of clothes I will do over the next day or two. I need jeans so they were first on the agenda today. I didn't have time to do a second load, but I'll do that later this evening. Cindy rode with me to Parsons (Walmart), then we stopped to pick Jaxson up at his school on the way back (he didn't know I was picking him up, so he was sure surprised). I dropped Cindy off at her house, then Jaxson and I went on to Altamont. First we went to the RV for awhile as I had a couple of things for him. The wind today has been 25-35 miles an hour, with gusts up to 40mph. He didn't like the way Bentley shook. He had never experienced anything like it and thought surely it was a tornado. Later, Marc told me had recently heard/learned information about tornadoes with the upcoming spring weather, so it was on his mind. Kamron was home from school when we arrived so I got the chance to visit with her for a while too. It was sure good to see those two. I still need to see Haleigh and hopefully soon!!
The RV is sitting with the back to the south. The wind is coming straight from the south, so I've had to be very careful opening the door, so it doesn't get away from me. Yesterday it almost knocked me down the steps as I wasn't quite prepared for how strong the wind was. I was much more careful about it today. When I carried groceries in, I just opened the door and fastened it outside until I could get everything inside, then went back out to to unfasten it, and close it.
Dean was already at the RV when I returned from Altamont - the RV Park, owned and operated by the City of Altamont, is located a few miles south of town. I had not even thought about dinner, so what to have? I found some leftover taco soup in the freezer. I warmed it up and made a cheese quesadilla to go with it. It hit the spot. I knew Dean would probably still be hungry, so I offered a couple of cookies (Nestle's packaged cookie dough) or some canned cinnamon rolls. I love the cookie dough as I can cut off 2 or 4 small pieces and cook them in the convection oven, which means we are not tempted to eat more than we should. Tonight Dean wanted the cinnamon rolls. They were pretty good.
Cinnamon Rolls were pretty good.
That's quite the day you had! Just curious, can you try on jeans in Walmart there or any store? You can't here in NV and no way am I buying jeans without trying them on. Need to find a state to buy clothes LOL. Fun to spend time with your sister and to surprise grandchildren :) Those cinnamon rolls look yummy!
ReplyDeleteThey were not permitting it last I knew. I think Kohl's was allowing it. I typically buy, take it home, try it on. If it fits I keep it, if not I take it back.
DeleteWinds there and winds here and even winds back home in Illinois. Lots of wind this year. Late at 6:30😃 my late is 9:30! Glad Dean was right on the sink problem. Got to have it in the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteYes he couldn't put up with me if the kitchen sink didn't work!! HAHA
DeleteSeems the winds are all over. Right now, with the warmer temps coming, we like the wind as it helps get rid of the snow! Other than that, I don't like wind generally.
ReplyDeleteNice to get a visit in with Jaxson and Kamron, I'm sure J was surprised to see you at the school. Good to have the water issue fixed, I'll bet, and yes a good cleaning never hurts - once in a while. Ha ha
Cinnamon rolls are too good. Bill can't eat just one so of course, neither can I!
I'm so thankful the strong winds have moved on. After our 68 degree temps yesterday morning it was 49 today (March 11). We got the new toilet today and I suspect Dean will have it installed tomorrow. We have a commitment tonight or he might have started when we returned home.
