Saturday-November 2, 2019
I never left the RV on Saturday. We've been on the run and I just wanted to rest. I also wanted to get our monthly expenses input in the computer for October.
With that finished I checked emails, read a magazine online with Prime, started reading a sample of the book "Women of the Bible" and just did things around the RV the rest of the day, some laundry, cooking, etc. Just a "me" day I guess you could say.
We enjoyed watching our first Christmas movie for this year tonight on Hallmark; and although it was not a new movie, we had not seen it before. I love their movies. We don't have to worry about what you will hear or see, there is no violence. I wish TV would return to the way it was when I was growing up. We still love The Andy Griffith Show and watch it every night. Such a simple life in comparison to what our children know. There are pluses and minuses to everything. We learned life lessons from Andy, Leave it to Beaver and many other shows when we were kids.

I woke up at 3 and had a hard time staying in bed until 4 because of the time change. Fortunately, I had put a load of clothes in the washer last night before going to bed, so I could wash them when I got up. I started the washer before pouring my first cup of coffee.
Today is my turn to host for "Sister Sunday". Cindy has offered her house for us to meet at since the Chiefs will be on TV in our small space. Lol! (They won today so that made my husband happy.) I am making apple crisp for our "treat". I mixed my topping up and set everything out so I could finish it and put it in the convection oven when I return from church.
This is the first Sunday I've been in Oswego for awhile so it was nice to be back at church with friends and family. It is always good to see everyone and be in God's house.
All of my sisters made it to Cindy's. Crystal brought her grandson Dempsey. I haven't seen him for awhile, and he is growing up so fast. They only stayed for about an hour but we sure enjoyed spending some time with him. He told us he will be 5 this month.
Just another quiet day which is good because we have several busy days coming up this week.

Again I was up early since I need to leave Oswego by 8. Misti is going to ride along with me so I picked her up at 7:50. I am taking the car to Toyota in Joplin to have it serviced.

More fall trees in Oswego. |
The drive over was nice and we arrived just a few minutes before my appointment. My car is one that does not require the key to be in the ignition. When we arrived at the service center, I pulled up to the door, it automatically opened and I pulled in. A gentlemen met me and said I could go in to the office area and let them know I was here. After giving the guy in the office my information, I turned around to find the guy who told me to go to the office was waiting for me to give him the key so they could move the car. If you don't have the key it won't start, or move. Lol!
It didn't seem like any time at all, they had finished with my car, and we were on our way, headed to Kohl's. In my last order from Amazon I ordered a "ball cap rack" so we could hang it alongside the coat hooks in the hallway going upstairs in the rig. Dean has a few hats he wears regularly. He wanted something (and so did I) where he could hang them up when he comes in. Unfortunately when we received it, we realized it would not work for us. This was my first Amazon return to Kohl's. Thanks to Kathy it was easy peasy, and just like that, we were done. I will look for something else, but will pay a little closer attention to how we can fasten it to the wall.
When I left they gave me a 25% off coupon, plus $5 off my next purchase; and I already had another $5 off coupon. My wardrobe for winter clothing was all but non-existence after losing weight. I've been looking for bargains and have managed to find two sweaters, and two long sleeve shirts. I found a lightweight sweatshirt today and with all of my coupons it was just over $12 with tax. Since we'll be in Southeast Kansas through December and maybe as late as mid January I definitely need a few pieces of warmer clothing. I still have a few flannel shirts that I can now use as a lightweight jacket with the waffle crew shirts I recently bought at Walmart.
Our next stop was Sam's. I only needed a couple of things there but we did a bit of looking around as well, mostly to waste time since we wanted to have lunch and it wasn't quite 11 yet. When Misti and I were in Joplin several weeks ago we were going to try out a new to us restaurant, MacCheesy. When we arrived at the location, we discovered they had moved, but they had not yet re-opened at the new location. On our way to Sam's today, we noticed they had a sign that said "NOW OPEN", so after we left Sam's that is where we headed next. We had to wait a few minutes before they unlocked their doors. I really had no idea what to expect so we had a few questions. Here's their menu. Misti ordered mac & cheese with a Taco topping - meat, pico and sour cream.
I ordered the Burnt Ends, which had a few piece of burnt ends mixed in with the mac and cheese, with BBQ flavored panko crumbs on top, and a drizzle of BBQ sauce to finish it off.
We both enjoyed our selected choices. They were served in small "cast iron" type skillets, which they offer in three different sizes. The small skillet was recommended for one person, but neither of us could eat it all, so we asked for to-go boxes. I typically get water with a meal but today I just felt like some iced tea. Their tea was very good. I like strong tea and theirs was not watered down at all. It had a good flavor. The cups are small but they have free refills.
Our last stop was at Walmart. We were both ready to head home by the time we were finished there. Cindy called me on my way home, a little after 2. She was going to stop by after running a couple of errands if I was home. Since I was about to drop Misti off at her house, I told her to stop by when she was done. Dean was at home so I let him eat the rest of my lunch. He enjoyed it, so for a quick lunch we will try MacCheesy out again.
Before Cindy stopped by, Dean told me I know you just got back from Joplin, but would you be willing to go back to Joplin later to get some wood so he could start working on the desk. How can I say no, when he's not only willing to build it, but he's anxious to get started on it. Soon afterwards he headed to the garage. Cindy showed up a short time later and we visited for about an hour or so. When she left I called Dean to let him know we could leave whenever he was ready. We left around 3:15, drove straight to Lowe's where he bought wood, some wood clamps and a couple of pieces of pipe to use with the clamps. We headed home right after that and were back at Bentley by 6:30 or so. It seemed much later due to the time change. We made a quick stop at the garage to drop everything off.
Fortunately we had leftovers for tonight. I heated up our leftover meatloaf and mac/cheese (just what I wanted - more mac/cheese!) for our dinner tonight and then we set down to watch Dancing with the Stars.
It was a day of getting things accomplished. The next few days are already full. I hope you check back.
