Thursday, August 30, 2018 - Travel Day to Epsom, New Hampshire

Thursday, August 30, 2018 - Travel Day to Epsom, New Hampshire

I wanted to get Wednesday's blog posted before we left this morning and managed to get that done.  Then I hurried around to get things packed up and myself ready to leave.  Dean had been outside getting things ready for awhile.  We are parked under some large trees.  It has rained a couple of times while we were here - neither lasted very long, but we had some pretty heavy wind one evening for maybe 30 minutes or so and it sounded like rocks were falling on the RV.  When we walked last night we noticed the only trees around us were maples - so we can only assume it was some dead sticks/branches falling on the roof.  I heard Dean on the roof checking things out.  Fortunately all was well, it was just very small dead sticks.  They sure did make alot of noise!

It didn't take me long to finish things up inside and we were soon hooked up.  Dean wanted to stop at the dump station before we left, so while he was working on that I walked our trash down to the dumpster.  I met a couple walking back, Lee & Sharon West.  I really enjoyed visiting with them in this short time.  They are originally from Franklin County/Vermont where our campground is located.  They lived in Texas for many years while working. They now winter in Texas and spend the summer months here in Vermont.

Dean was just finishing up.  I completed my log book, and we pulled out of the campground.

I took a few pictures along the way today....I'm sure none of you are surprised at that!

This is how the sky looked when we left.  We're hoping we do not run into any rain.

I can't help but take pictures of the scenery.  It is just so beautiful.  Unfortunately, these pictures do not do justice to the true beauty.

Love how the clouds are covering the tops of the mountains and floating over them in the above pictures.

Love the grasses, the trees, the hills and the clouds!

The sun is starting to come out - and no rain through all of those dark clouds.

So wide open!

Still in Vemont and lots of mountains.

White River Crossing, north and west of the Connecticut River.

The Connecticut River (sorry for the reflection) is the boundary for New Hampshire.

We arrived at Epsom Valley Campground at 2:44 p.m.  We have a full-hookup, pull through site, with 30 amp power.  It was 81 degrees when we arrived.  I decided to run the vacuum before I got everything out.  It took me about 10-15 minutes and I was sweating when I finished.  We set outside for an hour or so and it was very comfortable.  It is very quiet here right now, as not many people have arrived, but we expect that to change tomorrow with the Labor Day weekend. There isn't too much to see here in Epsom, but there is a place to have breakfast and it has good reviews, so I'm sure we'll try it out at least once.  Really good news - the diesel is cheap here compared to what we've seen, $2.99/gallon. We can only hope it remains that way as we continue our trip.

We have some tentative plans for tomorrow but I'll tell you about those in our next post.

  1. Nice that you have arrived at N.H. in what looks like a nice spot. If we had sticks and bricks home, we'd never meet 'new' friends taking the garbage out. :)
