We did not feel the need to rush this morning. It was 9:47am before we pulled out of Covered Bridge Campground in Rockville, IN. It was 51 degrees on a beautiful clear day as we pointed Bentley towards Goshen, Indiana. The following are just random pictures I took as we drove today.
While our drive from Eureka Springs to Vandalia, IL was long in hours, the drive from Rockville to Goshen, which was half the miles seemed almost as long, driving on the Hoosier Heartland Highway. It was a somewhat boring drive compared to most of our travels. We were so glad to reach Goshen, IN. Maybe we were just tired of driving. We headed to the Elkhart County Fairgrounds where we had reserved a site for two nights, arriving at 2:15pm EST.
The office was not open on Sunday, but they had left a packet with our site number, 425 marked on it. Since we'll be taking the RV to Affinity first thing in the morning, we barely did anything except extending the slides. We were both tired, and agreed getting a burger would work just fine for dinner. We drove to Culver's where we enjoyed one of their butterburgers, followed by a small dish of ice cream before returning to Bentley. We just chilled out in front of the TV for the rest of the evening. Morning will come early tomorrow.
Monday, September 21, 2020 - Bentley spends the morning at Affinity RV, while we did a little shopping.
I was up at 5 to make the coffee. While it was perking, I started putting away anything we would not need this morning . When Dean got up, I went ahead and readied things in the bedroom for our move. We wanted to be ready to leave the park by 7:30 to be at Affinity by 8:00am.
Things went well, allowing us to leave the fairgrounds at 7:30 - that is, until we neared the railroad tracks, where we got held up by a big old train. We decided to try and go around it, but then got ourselves in a real fix of waiting at least twice as long as we would have, had we stayed where we were. It all turned out well though, as we still arrived 6 minutes before 8:00. Someone came right out to tell us where to park and unhook Bentley. From there we were free to go for the rest of the day. They will call us when everything is done.
Our next stop was at Luxe Cafe for breakfast. Dean chose one of their scramblers and I had their morning special of French toast and bacon. The food here is quite good. We enjoyed taking our time and having an extra cup of coffee before we left.
We both wanted to stop at Walmart to get a few things. Since it was early and thankfully, not busy, we spent some time looking around which neither of us typically do.
Our next stop was at Menard's where we went up and down the aisles just looking, and we even purchased a few things. Dean found a neat little tool box for his grill tools and a box of work towels - thanks Drena for the ideas. We were surprised to get a call from Affinity at 10:30, that all of the work was done. We finished up at Menard's and headed that way - only a short distance. Brenda met us and went over the list of things that were done, we paid, hooked up Bentley and headed back to the campground.
The laundry had really piled up since we did not have sewer last week, so that was the first thing I wanted to get started after we returned and had everything set up. Before we headed out, we each had an apple with some peanut butter for a snack.
Misti, Haleigh and I are going to have a mini-picture sitting the first weekend of October. I wanted to visit Kohl's to look for a sweater/top to wear but pickin's were thin! I was talking to my sister Cindy later. When I mentioned this, she said it was the same way when she was at Joplin the other day, where there was very little to choose from. I'm sure I can find something somewhere.
Dean had purchased a rain suit several weeks ago. After we brought it home, he realized the size he got was way too big. Since we forgot to take it with us this morning, while we were out this afternoon, we stopped at another Walmart to return it as well as another item he purchased this morning that he changed his mind on. After taking care of those, we bought a couple of grocery items for our dinner tonight. We made a stops at a few more places, then decided to get a large ice tea at McDonald's before heading back.
Back at Bentley, I continued the laundry and we rested a bit, before I made dinner. It was a simple meal. We had one russet potato that I "baked" in the microwave, adding a topping we've never tried before. I still had several small packages of rotissere chicken in the freezer. I added one of those to some alfredo sauce. We topped each half of the potato with this mixture. We both determined it was a success and we will definitely have it again in the future.
