Monday, April 13, 2020 - Busy Day
It was 38 when I woke up at 5:30 this morning. The weather forecast for the next few days indicates the early morning hours will remain in the upper 30's and low 40's. Brrrr! I miss our morning walks. While I can take the cool temperatures, if there is any wind it goes right through me. I hope it is calmer tomorrow.
I finished up Sunday's blog post, then I read RV blogs that I follow, commenting on a few. While I enjoyed my first cup of coffee I made a list of things I wanted to accomplish this week. I've always been a list maker; finding if I write things down I am more apt to complete them, or maybe it's because that way I don't forget to complete them. Lol! However, I do like checking things off my list!
It was time to have one of my prescriptions refilled, so I took care of that this morning and it will be mailed to me, saving me a trip to pick it up.
A few weeks ago, Dean asked if we had a thermometer in case we needed one. I told him it was in the bathroom cabinet. I have no idea the last time it was used, but I'm glad the subject came up and we got it out. It is a battery operated thermometer and the battery was dead. I ordered one from Amazon, so this morning I replaced the battery. Afterwards, we checked it out, it works and we are normal - well, at least our temperatures are!
Dean emptied our holding tanks this morning so we are good for another week or so. After he finished that job, he headed to the garage for an hour. When he left I put the first of three loads of laundry in to wash. I hung up the last items (sheets) shortly after he returned from the garage this evening. They will finish drying overnight, hanging in the shower. Everything will be completely dry by tomorrow morning and I can put them away. We had a quick lunch, while we watched a home improvement show - Home Town. I had the TV on most of the morning, unusual for me, but glad that I did. The hosts of the show were showing a house to a couple and I heard them say it was the "Blackledge" home. Well, of course I had to set down and watch that episode. There are a few Blackledge's spread around the country but you don't see the name often. (Blackledge was my maiden name).
Thursday we are going to Joplin to pick up some items at Sam's, and to get our reward check for 2019. We use our Sam's card to purchase all of our fuel (5% back) and dining out (3%), plus a few grocery items we purchase there on a regular basis, such as bulk nuts, rotisserie chicken, vitamins, and occasionally a few other items. It adds up to a nice refund each year. Since we will be in Joplin, I submitted a grocery/misc item pickup order to one of the Walmart's there. When I realized it required a minimum $30 order I wasn't sure I had that much to purchase, but I should have known better - it adds up quickly, especially if you purchase a new cartridge and a package of paper for your printer. I really like the pickup option during this time. I probably save money this way too!
It's really nice to have sisters - if we need something and the other has it, we share. For instance my sister Cindy has been looking for crushed rosemary and unable to find it. When she mentioned it I told her I had some. I also needed to pay her for a couple of things she purchased for me when she was out last week. When I talked to her earlier we were talking about sweets. Dean and I like to have a little snack after our evening meal. I had planned to make something this afternoon. Since I had a brownie mix, I made them, adding some pecan pieces. When they were done, I cut a couple of pieces for her and headed to her house with the rosemary, money and brownies. When I left I had a small bag of pecans and her little chopper. I mentioned my chopped pecans were almost gone and now thanks to her, I'll have some more. Yes, it's nice to have sisters!!
Barely had I returned home, than Dean showed up as well. We always talk about what we have done during our day - he spent a good part of his afternoon cutting more brush at the lot. After visiting a bit, I made spaghetti for dinner. About 8 we had our snack. I was on the computer most of the evening, just looking at and reading different things, then texting back and forth with a friend of mine while Dean watched TV. It was a quiet evening here at home.

Nice post, you were busy! It seems Bill and Dean are a lot alike. They have their own things to do and have a place to do it. sometimes Dean is more outside but Bill can go down to the Hangar after breakfast and I don't see him much until supper time. That's when it is warm enough for him. He has no heater down there now.
ReplyDeleteYes it sounds like they are. Dean likes to work outside. His work often required it and he was raised on a farm, milked cows morning and evening - no matter how hot or cold it was.
