Friday, August 23, 2019 - Wind River View Campground - Boulder, WY

Friday, August 23, 2019 - Wind River View Campground - Boulder, WY

We were up early to start our packing process, fix some breakfast, pack lunch and get on the road.  We said our goodbyes to Frank and Joyce, and Ray and Debbie before we pulled out of the park at 9:10am.  It was a beautiful day.  We headed west out of West Yellowstone, MT on Highway 20 to Ashton, ID; continuing on Hwy 20 until we reached County Road 48 at Rigby and into Ririe leading us to Highway 86.  We followed it along the the Snake River for many miles before it merged into Palisades Reservoir from Palisades, ID to Alpine, WY.  At Alpine we transtioned to Highway 89 and outside of Hoback, WY to Highway 191 that took us to Boulder.  While the road was more miles than driving through Yellowstone, it was a shorter route due to the reduced speed zone in Yellowstone.  After Yellowstone and the beauty we saw there, we didn't expect to anything close to the beauty this drive provided.

Road construction as we left West Yellowstone, MT
It wasn't long and we passed into Idaho.  Other than having many more hills than Kansas has, it sure reminded us of home with the bales of hay, and the crops of wheat and corn.

We followed along the Snake River most of the time, except when it went away from the highway for short distances.

Then the Snake River and Palisades Reservoir became one for MILES and MILES!

Back to more hills

We crossed into Wyoming shortly before we reached Alpine.

After that the scenery began to chang and we saw mostly sage brush in the fields like the one above - with mountains in the background.

At 2:41pm we pulled into Wind River View Campground.  It's pretty much a flat spot of dirt but it had full hookups and it was level.

We were hungry, so we drove into nearby Pinedale, WY looking for something to eat.  We found this great restaurant - Wrangler's.  The best burger and homemade fries I've had in a very long time.  My burger was swiss cheese with avocado and all the fixings.  Delicious!

And if that wasn't enough we had ice cream too - at Dave's Last Stand.  I chose a root beer float.  It's been on my mind lately and I had to get rid of the thought!

After we returned to the campground I realized I needed to update my location on RVillage.  When I went to the site, I noticed I had a message from The Hubers.  There was a get together in Pinedale (where we ate dinner), however it was earlier in the day before we arrived.  It would have been fun to attend had we been able to.

Back at the campground we enjoyed watching this beautiful sunset right outside our window.

Then we got out and walked down to the end of the road to get these shots.

I seem to have some pictures missing and not sure what happened.  My SD Card showed full and I'm not sure if it has something to do with that or what.  I do have a new one in my camera now.  I hope that is the end of any lost photos from this point forward.
