Friday, November 30, 2018 - Relaxing Day, with a few Chores Thrown In

Friday, November 30, 2018 - Relaxing Day, with a few Chores Thrown In

First order of the day was to keep an eye on my blood pressure.  It was high again when I got up this morning but by mid evening it was perfect, so I'll continue to monitor it over the weekend.

Dean put the water hose back out (it's been below freezing for several days now) this morning so laundry is on the agenda!  I managed to do five loads today and changed the sheets on the bed.  I was getting really low on clothes to wear.  Dean still had plenty.  I'm trying to put off buying anything new, hoping I can shave a few more pounds off first.  I still have one more load to do this weekend.  It was really nice to be home all day and get some things done.

Dean played golf this morning.  It's the first time he's played with this group since earlier in the year before his surgeries, so he was looking forward to it.  He enjoys playing so much and I'm glad he has the opportunity to do so when we are at home.

I also worked on yesterday's blog post, got Christmas presents together and in gift bags for our grandkids in Wichita.  We are driving out there tomorrow for a couple of reasons - but I'll wait until tomorrow's post to tell you about that so I have something to write about - right?

Later in the afternoon we drove to Pittsburg to pick up our mail - I had some prescriptions waiting for me, and a bunch of other stuff - including another Christmas present I had ordered for one of the grandkids.  I was quite happy it arrived before our trip tomorrow.

We decided to go ahead and eat dinner in Pittsburg at Rib Crib before heading home.  Fortunately it was about 4:30 so we were able to order and be served before the Friday evening crowds arrived.  We both ordered pulled pork with 2 sides.  I chose a side salad with fried okra and Dean had the side salad and potato salad. After having our salad and eating a little of the other items we were too full to eat most of the pulled pork.  It was the best pulled pork we have had for quite awhile.  It was perfectly cooked - moist, tender and flavorful.  We might be able to get two more meals out of it.  The waitress told us each serving was 1/2# and I think we brought almost a pound home with us.  We really like it on a baked potato, so that will probably be dinner on Sunday night.  I'm so glad we both like leftovers.

Back at Bentley, I made sure all of the things we need to take to Wichita tomorrow was ready to go, and dried the last load of clothes.  Then we settled in to watch "The Christmas Chronicles" with Kurt Russell and a surprise guest at the end.  We really enjoyed this show and laughed a lot throughout it.  If you haven't seen it yet, you can watch it on Netflix.

We headed to bed a little before 10 again tonight.  I think I was asleep not too long after my head hit the pillow.  I'm not sure what time it was but maybe around midnight we woke up to heavy rain and wind.  We could feel Bentley rocking a bit but I couldn't stay awake and promptly fell back asleep.  Dean said this morning he was awake most of the night.  I may be driving home this evening!

I hope you all had a great day!
