We are in Oklahoma City for the Oklahoma Chapter of the Heartland Owners Club. Our Bentley is a Heartland Big Horn. We joined this chapter shortly after we purchased Bentley in 2014 and attended our first rally in April of that year where we met many of the folks we will see here over this weekend. RVer's are very special people - we have so many things in common and really enjoying our travels with each other.
Dean was happy to hear we have a pull through site which makes it easier than having to back the rig in (like he did at Natural Falls State Park - where he had to maneuver around a tree right at the entrance to our site - but he did it like a pro!). However, when you have a small tree near a window with one branch that sticks out you try to maneuver it as far away as possible to keep it from constantly rubbing against the rig and it is windy here. Soon we were in a spot that suited us and set up. Not too long afterwards we ran into our friend Jay, who told us of plans to eat dinner at the Cattlemen's Steakhouse tonight and we would be leaving the park at 4:30. Wow, a steak sounds great to me! It's something I can eat and hopefully they will have some sides I can eat as well.
We rested for a bit before getting ready to go. When we went outside our neighbors to our right, Clarence and Barbara asked us if we would like to ride over with them. We really appreciated this - since it meant Dean did not have to drive in OK City traffic during rush hour. Thank you Lord! We had such a nice visit with this couple and enjoyed getting to know them. While I remember seeing them at one of the first rallies we attended we had never had a chance to visit with them, but we felt at ease with them right away. There is always something to talk about when you have a commonality.
Once we reached the Cattlemen's Steakhouse we had about a 30 minute wait but it was outside on the large covered porch area where we visited with our Heartland friends and it seemed no time we were heading in to the private room they had set up for us. For dinner we set with Larry and Mary Ann, who we had met and visited with quite a bit back in May at the Branson HOC Rally. It was good to get the chance to catch up with them here. We had a great waitress, and we enjoyed our meals. We both chose the specials for the evening. Dean chose a rib eye steak and I chose the small prime rib. Both were excellent and I was able to get steamed vegetables and a side salad with mine which met my diet requirement.

Aftewards, Clarence drove down into the stockyards and showed us some of the area. It would be fun to visit during a sale. They have this walkway above the pens that allows you to move from one side of the stockyards to the other.

We walked our 2 miles this morning. It was a beautiful cool morning although you could feel the humidity in the air. The campground has two sections divided by a large drainage ditch. We walked around each section twice, up and down the roadways within each - 4 rows each plus a little extra to get in the entire 2 miles.
Tonight is our potluck dinner. I am making things I can eat to be sure I can stick to my new diet. I made hard boiled eggs in my instapot for the first time and they were perfect. I will never make them any other way. It was so easy and I cannot believe how easily they peeled. I made deviled eggs and also a broccoli/cauliflower salad with cheese & bacon bits, topped with ranch dressing. Rex, the Chapter leader fried catfish that was delicious. I was able to eat it and a couple of other vegetable salads and managed to pass up all the desserts. Vicky made a banana pudding dessert that I would have loved to try but I even passed it up. Dean said it was really good though - the best he had ever eaten. It's a favorite of his.
Afterwards they played a game that I did not care for at all "Cards against Humanity". I will not play it again is all I'll say.

We rode over to Earl's with Orville and Barbara. They are the new Chapter leaders. We enjoyed visiting with them. Dean had a cheeseburger and fries and I chose the small plate of pulled pork, green beans and deviled eggs. My pork was a little dry and since I couldn't add the BBQ sauce (sugar) it wasn't quite as good but it did have a nice flavor to it. Afterwards, we set outside between Dave/Nancy's and Mike/Kelly's rigs (1 and 2 doors down from us) and visited. We visited with Nancy quite a bit about rig layouts, accessories, etc. Nancy showed me her rig and some of the things they had done. I was surprised how well the new MDC shades keep the light inside the rig - you can't even tell a light is on from the outside and you cannot see out with the night shades down at all. It's something we'd like to add to our rig down the road.
It was a nice relaxing day, enjoying the company of our Heartland friends. We'll see them again this winter in Texas - as we plan to spend Jan through March in the Mission, TX area. It will be our first time to try this. We have many Escapee and Heartland friends who winter in this area so we think we will enjoy our time there.
Tomorrow we head back to Oswego.

We managed to get in our 2 hour walk before we packed up to leave this morning. We pulled out of the park about 9:15, missing the big rush hour traffic and were soon leaving Oklahoma City behind. Our drive north through Tulsa and down Route 66 to Vinita and then on to Oswego went quite smooth. I packed a lunch and we ate on the road. We arrived home around 1:30 and were soon set up.
First things first was getting all of the laundry started and then running a few errands which included taking my baby sister Jody her birthday card. She turned 55 today.
We are here until October 14 or 15 and then we'll be gone again for our October casual campout in Wagoner, OK at Sequoyah State Park, home for two days on October 21-22, and then leaving again on the 23rd for Branson to spend a week or so.
