August 4 - Farquar-Metsa Tourist Park
We left Ft. Wilkins State Park just before 11:00 this morning and headed south to a little town (Gwinn) about 30 miles outside of Escabana, MI. It is a Passport America park - $10/night.
We pulled in at 3:00 p.m. after a very interesting drive to get here. The road that leads to the campground was being replaced and we had to route around town to the other side and backtrack. As we pulled off the highway into Gwinn, we saw the detour sign, so we turned onto a side street wondering what we were going to do. A lady pulled up beside us and wanted to know if we were going to the Tourist Park. We told her yes. She said just follow me, I am going right by the turn you will need to take to reach it, so that is what we did. At the corner we needed to turn, she turned her signal on to let us know that was the correct street. What a very nice thing to happen to us today!
It was a nice little park with full hookups. Other than running into town to get some bottled water later, we did nothing but sit for the evening. It was kind of nice after our active time at Copper Harbor. Our next stop will be quite busy too so I think it's a good idea for us to get this rest time.
We did take a walk around the park and I took a few pictures.
