Sunday, October 11, 2015 - Snowdale Recreation Area, Salina, OK
We left Bullard, Texas this morning about 9:30 with plans to stop north of McAlester, OK at a State Park, however near the turnoff we pulled off for a rest stop and decided we felt like traveling further today. We reset Tammy, our GPS, for Snowdale Recreation Area in Salina, OK. We stayed here on our way home last year and we enjoyed being near the water. This time of year there are usually white pelicans passing through and we were fortunate to see a few while we were here. It also happens to be just down the road from my cousin Jim Wade and his wife Wanda. I gave them a call to see if they would be around later. Fortunately they had no plans and we agreed to meet them at their house once we were set up.
We arrived about 4:30, and arrived at Jim and Wanda's around 5:00. It was great to see them. Jim had quite a health scare earlier this spring and even though he is not back to full speed it was great to see him doing so much better. We had a little trouble finding a place to eat, and checked two or three places out only to find they were closed Sunday evenings. We finally settled on Chili's in Pryor. It was pretty good, and best of all we had a great visit. By the time we returned it was near 8:30 so we headed on back to Bentley.
